really upsets me that its extremely rare to find other people that are really into psychedelics, so much beauty in hallucinogens, sad that the majority will never expierence the awesome beauty that unfolds.

the goverments and drug propaganda did a fine job of putting the fear into us, and scaring people off them and to look down on people that trip as weirdos

its art at its purest form, your mind litrally creating layers upon layers of beautiful imagery and mind exploration with little to no effort even just looking at the most blankest things

ah well, really think i was born in the wrong decade, drugs went from love, peace and sharing amazing times to money, crime, death and war. the worst of the worst tho is people who think taking drugs is somewhat cool and makes them look big and hard.

i hate modern soceity, take me back to the 60s where there was no fear and everyone was just trippin together all as one in harmony and peace :(

im sure alot of you agree, or maybe some of you are lucky enough to know plenty of true trippers

just felt like a rant cos it does get me down :/

You'll find them eventually. You would be suprised.

Perhaps you are unaware, but the 1960s were a period of incredible fear... many people in North America were certain that nuclear war was inevitable (or at least a great threat.) and political tensions ran high. There were drills in public schools for when the bombs fell... Civil liberties were not what they were today and drugs were even well less characterised. be careful to not glorify the past too much - there have always been problems.

Yeah, the 60s were a problematic decade. Political assassinations, repression of free speech (see anti war protests), the looming nuclear threat. the genesis of liberalizing attitudes towards drugs was good, but that view was not shared by the majority. Music was pretty solid though :D

Watched a Jimi Hendris documentary tripping a few months ago. Lots of Vietnam politics & footage of demonstrations from the time. At one of them, pro-Vietnam war supporters were using this massive fucking sling-shot, wielded by THREE people (two to hold the sling, one to load & pull!), to fire big, broken up bits of concrete at the anti-Vietnam war protesters! I saw one bit of concrete hit a leading protester in the face/head & he went down like he'd been killed. Really distressing footage, middle of the day on Sky Arts, not the sorta thing you wanna see tripping, y'know?

We live in no more a violent time than they did, sadly. Nothing fucking changes, does it?

I am an engineer and I have used psychadelics for years. Societies norms have ZERO impact on me. I'd prefer to be having fun tripping and laughing at the ridiculousness of the world some days than conforming. Could just be you haven't found the right person to trip with ;)

OP, I'm guessing you're relatively new to psychedelics? Don't worry, you'll feel better with time.

The only "real" psychadelics users I know are dickheads that do drugs to tell people that they do drugs. My friends don't want to hallucinate and think that it will be scary, uncomfortable, and just a nightmare.

If the only "real psychedelics users" you know "are dickheads", i would love to hear your opinion on fake psychedelic users. Do they not tell people about their experiences? Do they tell fake experiences, and does that make them less "dickheads" in your opinion?

I don't see it as a bad thing when people share their experiences with psychedelics, this is known as spreading the word and educating others, generally a good thing, especially if telling someone who has had bad experiences with psychedelics. One can have quite enlightening experiences using psychedelic drugs. There are many to choose from.

Some people have bad experiences because like you said:
think that it will be scary, uncomfortable, and just a nightmare.

If one can calm their mind and focus on their breathing, one can have positive experiences on psychedelics.

But that was your opinion, you are more than entitled to it. Just don't give people a hard time for sharing their experiences with drugs. That is, for a large part, what this site is for.

To go back to the 60's being a turbulent time, I think in part this was why it was so cool. Like there should totally be an anti-war movement today, we drone bomb children on a regular basis, and our civil liberties are being eroded really quickly, with things like the patriot act and gun control folks. It is unfortunate that we aren't as reactionary, I think alot of it has to do with the media nowadays, and the fact that the president is extremely likable despite being as bad or worse than Bush depending on how you look at it.

Haha sorry, probably going to piss some folks off with that last comment. I don't feel like societies gotten worse since then, and I wouldn't know being all non existent at that time, but the gist I get from looking at history and whatnot is that folks have become more complacent lately.
