Good morning from the Midwest! I just found this site, and was both fascinated and amused. I imagine I'm quite a bit older than your usual demographic as I'm.... gulp.... middle-aged!!! How the heck did THAT happen???
Anyway, this site looks great to me for two reasons - First of all, I've suffered from debilitating headaches for over 20 years - diagnosed with Complex Migraines, Cluster Headaches and Trigeminal Neuralgia. There are very few definites in life, but I've discovered one or two over the last twenty years, and one is that getting the truth about drugs from doctors is harder than getting the government to outlaw taxes.
Another is that when something finally works on my pain, usually an opiod, these words, said with ponderous gravity, are inevitable: "I think we should discontinue/cut back to avoid addiction." Okay, they must be using - twenty years of daily pain mitigated and they think I care about fu*king addiction???? Idiots.
Also, I have three kids, ages 14, 19 and 21, and really don't know spit about any street drugs other than weed and coke, which I haven't done for 20 years. The older two live in LA, and are amazingly forthright with me, and I'd like to respond with informed, rather than hysterical, information. Even with them on the west coast, many of their friends come by regularly to "hang" - which usually means they have some issue they want to run by me, and again, I'd be more comfortable with a bit more knowledge.
So, here I am, ready to learn and laugh a bit too, and I promise to try to avoid pedantic lectures laced with guilt and doom, although I reserve the right to liberal use of the label "twit."
