I have a few sprouts going and I have some basic knowledge of herb growing. There is one thing I've been not sure of..I realize that a female plant is more desirable than a male, as it will produe a better seedlesss bud<3,right?? But male plants are going to produce bud with seeds, I alays thought these were totally useless. Is this true?? Or are male plants just the seedy"regular" or "mids" bud that we all know??I remember seeing some high quality indica buds [lo0oked and smelled] that were just FULL of seeeds. so much so that the buds were about uselesss, i didn't buy any even though the prices were very low. I geuss the species[sativa or indica]plays a role in the outcome of bud quality, will both species produce decent male bud[can bud be male or female???? Basically I want to know if only females are worth keeping, or will males produe good bud, albeit seedy?? thanks everyone:)

Seeded mids=Female plants that hermi'd / got pollinated. Males produce a negligible amount of THC, trim can be used in hash / cooking.

Genetics and the environment that you provide ultimately determine quality. Unless you want to breed your plants / harvest pollen you can get rid of the males when they show.

male plants produce pollen sacs to pollinate female flowers and create seeds.
males are undesirable for this reason, and are killed to ensure "sensimilia".
(spanish for without seed)

the female version of the cannabis plant produces the flowers which produce and hold
the cannabinoids, terpenoids, and the thc we all know and love, as well as many other active
and inactive compounds.

the species of cannabis (sativa, indica or ruderalis) plays no part in the outcome of
quality of bud.
this is affected by how well it is grown.
the seeded bud you saw was just pollinated and therefore grew seeds.
aka bad grower who didnt kill the males in time before they released pollen,
or a hermaphrodite plant.

female plants usually herm due to stress, this means they produce both female and male flowers.
*the male flowers being pollen sacs, the female ones being buds.
as a result a hermaphrodite plant will self-pollinate itself.
hermaphrodite self-pollinated seeds are almost always going to have a higher
likelihood of being feminised seeds due to the hormone levels etc at time of seed formation.

at such a cheap price,
personally i would have bought it,
picked out ALL the seeds, smoked the bud, and used the seeds to plant a crop,
and grow it properly so that MY end result was brilliant, non seeded bud.
cannabis seeds are often expensive to buy from seedbanks etc.
any bagseed you get you should save.

i once had a collection of many rare varieties (in seed),
including great strong native Thai strains, and some rare strains too.
unfortunately i was 17 and my mother found them, the silly bitch... :(

you should read up about cannabis
on Wikipedia, Erowid.org, Rollitup, Grasscity, and ICMAG.com.
icmag being one of the best grow sites out there.

it is better to be as knowledgeable as you possibly can
about cannabis before deciding to grow it.

good luck and happy growing!

Thanks, lots of good info..:).I'm pretty knowedgeable, just not too experienced, but I figure I can learn as i go[or grow...DOH!!!=D]. and do alot more reading, I have taken a few peeks at ICMAG....These days it is quite a science, lot more to it than the early 80's whenI tried this the first time%). I feel kind of lucky in a way, I was living around santa cruz, and big sur and nor cal, and some early indica, and other high grade buds were around.<3 To my knowledge, and personal exp. this was the beginnings of what we have today.Lot of old hippies, I saw going to lots of Dead shows, and there was bud as good as you see today, just not as many strains and names,, but plenty of lime green, wide leaved chrystal coated[tricomes]buds, and even had a few huge cola buds, christmms trees.Seems as lots of growers all around usa got into exotics, not just west coast. Anyone esle think this is kinda true??Anyhow, I'm almost an old hippei my self[wannabe really, I was born a bit late..], keep the grow info coming....:)

BL Cannabis Discussion really isnt a good place to go for grow info.
the greenthumbs such as myself and others on here are not many in number but
we do try to help people like yourself with queries whenever they appear.
as for typing up every bit of knowledge on the subject in my head, no way.
im not willing to do that, but thats only because Id be sitting here for days! :D

try the sites i mentioned, they will be of much much more help to you than here,
as that is specifically what they are about.
CD is more of a cannabis in general place.
but like i said if you have specific questions we are happy to help.

all i ask is to use the search bar at the top of the page first to make sure the question
aint been asked 100 times before.
(happens more than youd think)

peace out bredda

I have registered with IC mag, more info than you can shake a stick at.........
