Has anyone come across research regarding the administration of medicinal MJ for pain relief with minimal 'high' side affects?

"Indica's" 50-100% pending on how much of a high effect your looking for. Sativa will give you the soaring head "high" where as indica will glue you to the couch with a "stone".

Try making tincture or butter and taking a small amount several times throughout the day. A good method is to make small, bitesized cookies and eat one every two or three hours as needed. I find that smoking provides immediate relief from back pain, but eating tends to last a long time. Tincture is especially effective when taken sublingually (hold a teaspoon full in your mouth for 30 seconds before swollowing). Tincture is also very easy to make, just add bud to liquor and let it sit somewhere cool and dark for a few weeks. Tincture tends to have a lighter, headier high. Cannabutter tends to be very heavy and stony, and sounds more like what you might need. To make it just mix butter and bud in a pyrex bowl on top of a pot of bowling water (melting butter in a bowl over boiling water keeps it from burning). Let it simmer for a couple hours and filter it through a coffee filter (reusable is good). Hope this helps!
