Mixing Tramadol XR AND Tramadol IR

I am trying to fight off a bastard of a migraine. I am prescribed a lower dose of Tramadol extended release and Tramdol 50mg for breakthrough pain. Is there any danger in combining the two in low dosages? I know they are technically the same thing, but I want to be absolutely sure since one is ER and the other is IR.

Note: I do take a small dose of a benzo because I am well-versed in Tramadol's history of causing seizures.
