Mixing opiates benzos and DXM

Using the search engine I came across a whole slew of threads dealing with opiates + dxm. These kinds of questions belong in Basic drug discussion. As far as safety goes, without knowing what kind of doses you are talking about, we won't be able to tell you if it is safe or not.
Many people use low dose DXM as an opiate potentiater of sorts, and it also helps keep opiate tolerance in check. Combining opiates and benzos is not very safe, since the increased respiratory depression has the potential to become dangerous. It is doable, though, if the doses are kept low enough and the person has a tolerance to the drugs.
These kind of basic dosing questions belong in Basic drug discussion, though, so I am going to move it over there for now..

DXM has the tendency to raise your heart rate and BP very high. In my limited experience with DXM (I hate the shit), taking a low dose of a benzo was the only way I could keep my heart rate down and fend off a panic attack. I literally thought I was going to have a heart attack it wasbeating so fast, and I was tripping real hard and it was scary.. DXM feels so dirty and shitty.

I understand. But I asked you what doses you plan on taking.. without knowing what you plan on taking how are we going to know if it is safe?
Its like if you said:
900mg DXM + 6mg alprazolam + 80mg oxycodone with no tolerance.
That would be dangerous.
But if you said 250mg DXM + 5mg oxycodone + .5mg alprazolam.
That wouldn't be too dangerous.
There are a number of variables which greatly effect the correct answer to your query. What if you were enzyme deficient? Or allergic? We don't know everything nor can we read minds. (Most of the time)
We need more details.. Since this site is based on Harm Reduction, our goal is to give people as accurate an answer as possible. But when it comes to these kind of questions, there is a very fine line between "safe" and "unsafe". We dont' want to tell you, "Sure! Go ahead, you're good!" ; and then find out you dropped dead..

No it is not safe, the combination depresses the respiratory system, you can fall asleep and the brain stops telling the lungs to breathe. I have personal experience with this, my son died of the combination. There are 200 deaths a year in our region from this exact thing, so better be careful.
This is a lethal combination, it depresses the respiratory system and you basically fall asleep and stop breathing. A side affect of the opiate is the struggle to sleep, so you go after the benzo to help with the problem. People think they are using it in a controlled fashion, but it does not take much to push it over the edge. I have had personal experience with this, my son died a year ago from this combination. He was severely hurt in a MVA and taking hydro morph and morphine, he could not sleep so was given zopliclkne and oxaxapam, he went to bed and went to sleep, he died at 11pm. Doctors are pharmacists do not sufficiently warn patients of the dangers, be careful!
