I know that these are soluble in H2O at the rate of 1:8.8 at 60 degrees. The question I have been unable to answer is how quickly do they dissolve, and more specifically how quickly they dissolve in very cold water, i.e. 35 degrees?
Since a primary filler in the mixed amph. IR formulation - lactose monohydrate -is only partially soluble in cold water, one would want to have your amphs. in the H2O just long enough to dissolve fully before the lactose gets a change to do so and then quickly microfilter.
Any ideas for a formula I can use to determine the time necessary since I have all the inputs (60mg mixed amph salts, 2ml H2O at 35 degrees). Also, I would assume that having 540mg of other compounds (fillers) floating around in there at the same time (each pill weighs 300mg) would effect the solubility charachteristics of the amphs. While 2ml is way more than is necessary to dissolve 60mg of the amph. salts (30mg will dissolve fully in .45ml), it may take much longer with 540mg of all that other crap, for lack of a better term. So, the question boils down to this: How much 35 degree H2O do I need to dissolve 60mg mixed amph. salts in the quickest manner possible?
