Missed with an IV shot of a pill extraction. What can swim expect?

(just to note: I'm hoping to find feedback for my specific case as detailed below. I'm aware of the general dangers of pill injection which can range considerably due to numerous relative factors.)

For the details:

The pill is a Mallinckrodt Hydromorphone 8mg.
White pill. Triangle (3 sided) shape.
Front imprint: M
Back imprint: 8

DailyMed gives this as the inactive ingredients for the Mallinckrodt Hydromorphone tablets:

"In addition, each tablet contains the following inactive ingredients: lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose and stearic acid."

The following is the procedure:

Dissolved in a spoon with purified water. Slightly heated to help dissolve (these things are rock hard). Pulled up using .28 gauge. Filtered through one of those small tight cotton balls they give out at the needle exchange. Filtered 3 times carefully using a new syringe, new cotton and new spoon each time.
50 units of water were used for the 1 pill.

The pill itself was sterilized using a UV-C light for several minutes on both sides of the pill. Granted the edges of the pill did not receive as direct of exposure as the main faces.

Water and spoons were sterile.

Swim missed the vein with about 1-5 units of the solution. On the 2nd try the rest of the solution injected fine into another vein.

What problems can be expected or are potential for a situation as detailed above? How likely is any serious danger from this?
Also, for the shots that are not missed. There is always some quantity of solution that leaks from the injection site into the surrounding tissue. How much danger does this pose? Say for someone injecting 1 pill per day in 2 injections per day using the above method.

Right after the miss a firm bump formed about the size of a pea. After 16 hours the bump size reduced to a very small pinhead.

The danger from shooting pills whether you hit or miss the vein is build ups of the inactive ingredients in your body. This happened from shooting that extra stuff over long periods of time. The best way around it is to buy a .2 micron filter, with a PVDF or PES membrane. this allows the opiate in a pill to pass thru while filtering out the harful inactive ingredrients. they have many sizes, 5 micron, 2 micron, 1.2 micron, 1 micron etc. the best ones to use for pills are the .45m ( wont let ANY of the fillers thru ) or .2 ( sometimes called .22 ) filters, which even filter out bacteria ( but not viruses like HIV ). go with the .2 filters, why not filter out the bacteria while your at it right. Whatman is a good brand for getting filters. they have filters that hook to end of a luer lock syringe, and syringeless filters. with the syringeless filters you put the liquid in a little cup, there is a plunger with a filter membrane that fits flush with the bottom cup piece where you liquid is. you push down on the plunger, causing the liquid too move thru the filter membrane, removing the harmful pill particles, but letting opiate thru. the filtered liquid is now in a reservoir in side the plunger ( the plunger is hollow so it can hold liquid). theres a septum at the top of the plunger that can be pierce with a needle, and you just draww your purified shot up.

But to answer you question, beside your swelling you wont have any problems. but if your going to be shooting pills, you need to think about starting to micron filter. micron filters are expensive about a dollar a piece. but there is a product sold by exchangesupplies.org called the strerifilt that is a 5 micron filter that fits directly on to an insulin syringe, so you dont need to have a luer lock syringe like with regular micron filters. the steriflt is very cheap, and 5 microns is adequate for removing most pills particle. put it this way, the steriflt, while not as good as using ,2 or .45 micron filter is still better than using a cotton, because a cotton is basically a 50 micron filter, while the sterfilt is a 5 micron filter, and u dont risk cotton fever

You'll probably be fine. Dilaudid are pretty clean pills and you had sterile equipment and only missed with a little. Just keep an eye on it for any sign of infection.

And you don't need to use swim here. The pool is closed for the winter.

Great, thanks a lot for the feedback.
Yeah I plan on getting micron filters asap.
First I've heard about those .5 micron filters that don't need the luer lock, thanks for that. And no more swimming, thanks for the heads up.

I know the IV pill topic has been covered quite a bit elsewhere, I've read quite a bit of the board on it, lots of helpful info. But I haven't come across any conclusive information on certain specifics, much of the information is ambiguous or leaves out many crucial details. Which is why I'm posting my situation with as much detail as possible.
