So i ended up missing my last shot of dope probably ten minutes ago and now i have a swollen bump on the side of my right arm where i injected. it didnt really hurt too much when i was injecting but i noticed the big ass bubble forming under my skin. Anyways my question is, any ideas as to why it doesnt hurt? is that at good thing or does it not really matter and the chance for infection is still the same? its kinda hot but not red in the slightest. and is there any good medication (OTC creams or whatever) that i should get to help reduce chance for infection?

What drug are we talking? And are you sure you actually missed? Did you feel any kind of a rush or high? I've never actually missed but I have gotten a bubble from certain pills with anti-abuse bullshit that went away in a couple hours. Maybe post a pic and someone here can tell you more. If it doesn't go away in a couple hours or gets worse you may want to see a doctor.

I noticed the lump forming as i was injecting (heroin by the way, sorry). it didnt hurt at all though. i immediatly ran a hot washcloth over it and massaged for about 10min. then i had to go to work. it was pretty swollen by the time i got to work so i put ice on it for about another ten min then alternated back to heat and massaging for another 5min or so. i was trying real hard to make it go away so my boss (ex IV meth addict) didnt see it. The swelling has gone down some and the hotness is gone too. but the weirdest thing is it hasnt hurt at all, not during the miss or anytime after that! Anyways, any other infection prevention measures i can take?

Treat it as you would having a sore arm for now... if the site of the wound gets progressively worse / heavily irritated for a few days then go to a dr.. however based on what you report i predict it will go away on its own.

being new to IV i tend to have experience with missing. it will go away the bump is fluid your body sends to take care of the foreign substance in you. dont shoot for a little while cause that will absorb in. missing is like a time released shot

Yeah im fairly new to iv myself, ive been doin it about 2 years now. recently ive been getting these massive panic attacks everytime i miss a shot (which never used to happen its really strange) because im just positive im gonna get an abcess or get septicaemia and die. or even sometimes I will get a panic attack after shot cuz i think im gonna get a pulmonary embolism even though i havent shot any more than 5 units of air and there was no clots in the syringe. so im trying to learn about keeping infections away as much as i can to try reduce my attacks and paranoia.
