Hi guys,
I often go on binges IVing methylphenidate (Ritalin). I've missed many shots before and never had an abscess fortunately. I'll usually just have a painful swelling around the site for a few days. Prior to today I've always used the 30 mg LA capsules and crushed the beads. I prefer these because there is a huge deal less inactive fillers. Today however, I've been using the 10 mg IR pills. These are far from ideal due to all of the binders and inactive shit compared to the lowly 10 my of methylphenidate.
Anyway, back to the point. As I said, I have missed a LOT of shots of Ritalin over the past couple of years. However, I still get worried when I do miss a considerable portion of shot (my frienzied and anxious Ritalin-addled fried-ness doesn't help).
This happened to me today. I was hitting the prominent vein on top of the wrist and unfortunately missed a fair amount of solution. It is a bit swollen and quite tender to touch, and is also in a really awkward position so it's fairly uncomfortable whenever I move my left hand. This discomfort is not my concern though - it is the risk of complications. You are probably asking yourself - 'Why is he making a thread about this? He has missed shots before, he knows the risk. What the fuck does he want us to do about it?'.
Well I am glad you asked, because that in fact leads us to the question I made this thread specifically to ask!
Prior to today, I was mixing up my Ritalin shots and only filtering it with a sliver of cigarette butt. I know how ridiculously stupid that is, no need to lecture me - I've changed my ways. Every shot I had today went through a micron filter (the solution was like 100% clear) and used a fresh rig. I was reducing harm like crazy man. Sorry, I'm getting off topic again. Okay, here it is:
When you miss a vein while injecting a pill, to what degree is the chance of an abscess or a similar complication affected by the proper use of a micron filter?
I really hope that by going to all that extra effort I have significantly reduced the likelihood of something coming of this missed shot. I know micron filters are super effective in keeping those potentially dangerous ingredients in pills out of your body but abscesses are a major fear of mine.
Thanks in advance - any input will be greatly appreciated.
