Mirtazapine - anyone else suffered from dry mouth and anxiety?

I've been taking this now for about 8 years or so, and have in the past few years suffered from dry mouth at night (wake up in the morning with a dry mouth) and anxiety starting anywhere in the morning to afternoon the next day.

I took my dose (90mg) at night about an hour before retiring. I'm not sure what would cause the anxiety, but maybe the effect of the mirtazapine is wearing off at that time.

Is there any anti-depressant that would help to combat my general anxiety. I can't go on feeling like this, but I find I'm having a much harder time getting to sleep while I've been coming off the mirtazapine. I was taking 90mg, now down to 15mg and added 10mg of amitryptiline to deal with slight leg discomfort which was caused from swelling as the result of a minor disc bulge between the L4 and L5 vertebrae.

The back pain has nearly gone, as it was 2 months since I started taking amitryptiline and I think the disc problem has reduced in severity, it wasn't that bad to begin with but caused leg discomfort at night when trying to sleep which I never had trouble with on mirtazapine, but I had to come off this drug because of the dry mouth side effect, and the anxiety was another reason I came off it.

Are there any anti-depressants that help alleviate anxiety without causing sexual dysfunction? Effexor XR worked wonders for anxiety, but I did some very stupid things on it and I won't ever be using it again, aside from the fact that it also caused rather severe sexual dysfunction while at the same time ironically giving me sexual urges. So no way I'm ever touching that stuff again.

Has anyone used Moclobemide (Aurorix)? I hear this is good, but is insomnia are problem with this drug? I don't want to touch any habit-forming drugs, so no benzos, no barbiturates, no alcohol and I'm hesitant to even bother with gabapentin as I hear the withdrawals can be hell.

Can anyone help me out? I would really appreciate if anyone had any experience with these drugs and could tell me how they worked specifically. I'm trying to deal with depression which seems to be endogenous, even though I can't be sure if it's typical or atypical depression. I'm listed as "major depression". I'm told Aurorix (moclobemide) would be effective for depression and anxiety which prompted me to consult my doctor.

Any input on this would be great.
Thanks

I'm taking mirtazapine 30mg at night, yes I get dry mouth really bad too to the point where I'm constantly eating/drinking something.

I'm not sure if I get more anxiety like your talking about. Mirtazapine has actually helped my anxiety.

Without knowing your history or current situation I think your doctor or person prescribing these meds would be of better help.
