Excedrin Migraine. (Acetaminophine 250mg, Aspirin 250mg, Caffeine 65mg) If the headache is really severe, I will have to get into bed, and block all light from hitting my eyes. Also it must be a quiet place for relaxation, as sounds can be just as painful to deal with as the light. Also make sure you are hydrated. I used to use sumatriptan in pill form, but it didn't seem to help me that much. One of my friends used to use the Sumatriptan Nasal Spray, and it seemed to work for her. However, it is a very powerful drug, and the person who is suffering may get used to the effects very quickly, and end up in a situation where they may only get relief from this drug.

Sumatriptan the side effects are horrific heart attacks serotonin syndrome strokes and seizures

Good call. Preferably, migraine and other illnesses, should be treated naturally (this is just my opinion.. I'm no doctor, and have no idea how to treat migraines naturally). Thanks for listing the dangers when it comes to sumatriptan!

Try mushrooms. Either microdosing or a small psychedelic dose every month or three.
when i was getting stabbing headaches in the top left side of my head, mushrooms or acid really helped for like a week afterward, maybe longer... i was dosing every week for a few years because i was having problems with spinal arthritis. it really helped the arthritis and pins and needles stopped in my body from using... i've heard some people say psychedelics don't work for their back issues, but it was crazy helpful for me... i should probably use them still cause my back still gets out of whack, but it's not really hard to deal with.. i'm convinced psychedelics help align the energy that runs through the spine or whatever.. i wish i had two versions of my damaged body, so i could do a science experirment. have both my bodies do the same exact stuff, and have one eat psychedelics often and the other one not. i'm pretty certain the psychedelic using body would live like 10-20 years longer from how these drugs seemed to help me using them weekly when my back was most damaged.

edit: 20 years longer might be a bit much, but i'm thinkng a solid ten.. 20 years longer cause of psychedelics is pretty optimistic.. i definitely felt like psychs are where the fountain of youth idea came from..

Since you just mentioned using Acid for migraines... you jogged a memory in my brain. There was a time when a good friend of mine was getting some bad migraines and they were able to abort the migraine using the L. Food for thought. YMMV! (also a reminder, I am not suggesting that anybody try these things!)

^^^^yeah. it's tough to say someone should start using psychedelics for something like that. they might not be in the right mind state for it.. they should definitely research how psychedelics can affact the mind if they want to get into this stuff.. good call site user Dr.Mike....

Sumatriptan is a sulfonamide that consists of N,N-dimethyltryptamine bearing an additional (N-methylsulfamoyl)methyl substituent at position 5. Selective agonist for a vascular 5-HT1 receptor subtype (probably a member of the 5-HT1D family). Used (in the form of its succinate salt) for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults. It has a role as a serotonergic agonist and a vasoconstrictor agent. It is a sulfonamide and a member of tryptamines. It is functionally related to a N,N-dimethyltryptamine. It is a conjugate acid of a sumatriptan(1+).

Psilocin is 4-hydroxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine.
Hoffman was working on a migraine medicine when he discovered LSD. Ergotamine is an old migraine medicine and is an ergot alkaloid like LSD.

Thank you very much for saying that! Hallucinogenic substances can exacerbate underlying mental illness. Trust me, I know from experience... =)

Very interesting information, I was not aware of Shulgin doing that type of research. (when it comes to migraines anyways) Thank you for sharing!

I've had migraines for 37 years. I have tried just about everything my neurologist could come up with. My list of failed medications is extremely long. I've tried preventatives from indural to topomax to Prozac to Botox. I've tried the newest drugs to come out, the cgrp blockers but they didn't work for me. I've had a Sphenopalatine ganglion block that made me throw up immediately and have a horrible headache. I have taken opioids, OTC meds like Excedrin migraine. None of those things have worked to get rid of my migraines. When I was in high school (1992), imitrex (sumatriptan) came out. It was the first thing that actually made my headache go away. I still take it. I know people say the side effects are horrible. I don't have any of the side effects people have listed. I take multiple meds that could cause serotonin syndrome. But then again OTC cold meds can bring on seratonin syndrome. In the beginning, my chest would tighten, I'd get a little flushed, my heart rate would increase. I don't feel anything when I take it now, other than relief from the headache.
This is my experience though. There are many different types of migraines and they don't all respond to the same thing. Your best bet is to see a DR who knows his/her stuff, a neurologist or a headache specialist. I have seen several headache specialists over time. I saw one in Boston at the Brigham who told me to ask for DHE, Dihydroergotamine, an ergot alkaloid, to be added to the 'migraine cocktail' they give in the ER. When I asked for it the first time, the DR told me he hadn't used that in about 20 years. I've had to argue with some of the younger doctors who would tell me there was no such drug. I would tell them to look in my record because I had been treated with it at that hospital before. But that was only effective about 50% of the time.
I hope you find something that works for you. Good luck. It can be a very long and difficult road. A lot of people don't understand how debilitating a migraine can be. I hope you don't get them often. I hope you can accept them as a part of your life and live as full a life as you can.
FYI I am a daily user of meth. Small amounts, smoke only. I'm someone who would get migraines about 20 days of the month. I barely have to take any meds now. I just don't get them like I used to when I use. Not saying to use meth, but this is my experience.

I used to get them really bad until i was 14 and discovered shrooms. For years i had no idea why my migraines stopped and i didnt figure it out until i looked it up on the net many years later.

Ergotamine used to be the drug of choice before Triptans. An old girlfriend of mine used to have it prescribed. Amitriptyline daily and ergotamine when she got a headache. She would take the Ergotamine, two tokes of 'lumbo (Columbian pot) and lay in a dark bedroom with a warm washcloth over her eyes.

A lot of non-psychedelic users microdose mushrooms for migraines. There are tips online for dosing to not get much in the way of trippy effects.
Full disclaimer, there is the question of shrooms being bad for your heart. This wouldn't be much of an issue tripping occasionally, but daily use might be. It's likely Triptans would have the same problem, if it is a problem. This is not in any way proven, only speculation based on similarities with other drugs.

Yes ergotamine was the drug of choice for a while. My DR never felt comfortable writing a script for home use because I would have to inject it. And it has to be used with an anti-nausea medication and injected very slowly. I actually OD'd on a bottle of amitriptyline and a bottle of indural so I didn't get those meds anymore. Pot, alcohol, cigarette smoke, strong smells, certain foods, exercise (increased heart rate), barometric changes in the weather, menstrual/ovulation cycle, not sleeping enough, sleeping too much, stress, etc are all things that cause migraines for me. I've never tried mushrooms but I have read the studies. I've looked for places around where I live to see if there was any possiblity of finding a professional who could be there. I was able to find someone. I have not called yet. Unfortunately she does not take insurance and my income is limited to disability. I don't know about taking Psilocybin daily though. I thought one session could give relief for up to 3 months. Right now I'm ok with what I'm doing. If they get out of control again, which I'm sure they will, I'll try anything to alleviate the pain. I used to wish head transplants were a thing.

A dosage of Psilocybin which will cause a mild trip will supposedly last for up to a few months.
Microdosing, which is I think every couple/few days, is in dosages that you don't feel or very minimally feel and that's another approach.

My daughter has migraines, and is helped by Triptans but they're expensive. I've recommended mushrooms to her and told her what I know.
I'm not convinced that the heart issues are a thing but I won't microdose now myself, just because. I told her that since she was younger that she could try microdosing and I wouldn't worry overmuch but that my recommendation was a mild trip dose every few months. She hasn't decided to try either yet.

Is it legal and does it cause possible long term brain issues. Many psychedelic do, have permanent consequences like a drug felony, or messing your brain up but:

But, psilocybin does work on cluster headaches. Which I think are not even touched by copious amounts of opiods, strong ones. They sometimes will actually give barbiturates to cluster head ache suffers.

Like a bad ice cream head ache for hours or something.

I saw a documentary about them and a sufferer of cluster headaches swore by them and grew his own. Not a drug user, kind of a square but you might be onto something, I am not a brain expert, a nuerologist.

But maybe right on the money, after all opium poppies, to early for names, works for pain relief especially if semi synthetic ones.

You might be right but some areas there can be big legal trouble. Detroit and 3 other places in Michigan legalized psychedelic mushroom, real ones those aminta musc nothing one aren't what I mean real ones but outside those area possibly long prison sentences especially if growing your own. Manufacturing is much worse than possession and possibly Federal case, and 85% sentences with good behavior and sometimes ridiculously long.

That might change here but federally, the Democrats are behind opiod crisis with the GOP following, so who to blame, Washington DC career politicians.

Also DEA announced amphetamine crisis a few months ago. No more easy to get scripts for Adderall, Ritalin, ect...
Shrinks locked up next. RFK Jr, aka left wingers pissed and joined Trump might try something. Who knows
