so title says basically it all. had a 9/10 pain scale migraine went to the ER. i have migraines like this maybe once or twice a year. this time they tried a new drug. i am pretty sure it started with a T, maybe an H, and possibly ended in in -tyl or -ryl (like benadryl)? that could be totally off. about 2 minutes after being shot with it, i freaked the FUCK out. i felt the worst anxiety of my life and was yelling at the nurse to let me get the fuck out of there (yes, those exact words, mind you im very mild-mannered and respectful usually). i have been through alcohol and heroin WD at the same time, and honestly it felt worse than that.

she looked scared and talked to the doctor and they shot me with some yummy dilaudid and some ativan. i sort of calmed down. doc said that a good percentage of patients have this same horrible agitation reaction

can anyone name this drug? cuz if i ever go back to the ER i need to know what its called so i dont get it again. if you say it i will probably right away remember the name and confirm you got it right. i know this is obscure as hell but i would really, really appreciate an answer. i tried googling but found nothing. btw its not topamax, im very sorry i cant give more info on the name or anything.

PS mods if this needs to be moved go for it, i had no idea where to post this

Talwin NX (levorphanol)? It contains naloxone and it is an agonist-antagonist. Used for pain. They gave it to me at the hospital after a surgical procedure while on Suboxone. I did not have your reaction though. I just didn't feel all that "high". Some people feel dysphoric. Just a guess.

its possible that they would list the name of the drug they gave you on your hospital bill or on any papers they gave you when you checked out.

I get migraines and have been to two different ERs for them, first one I was given straight morphine.

Second time I was given a cocktail, orphenadrine (which is a powerful antihistamine), Toradol (ketorolac tromethamine, a NSAID), and demerol.

I don't know if they gave you any of these, but I've never experienced anxiety. Maybe it was another anti-histamine (a newer one?).

You should be able to know what was administered to you. You are going to end up paying to go to the ER, so you might as well find out what they gave you for real.

All we can do is speculate.

Yeah, on your hospital bill it will list what was administered to you.

Cap'n, are we allowing this to stay open, since it is a 'substance id' thread? All we can really do is speculate..

^i long since lost that otherwise i wouldve :(

well thanks for trying guys none of those sounded familiar. i will search for my answer elsewhere
