mg scales

I have a set of these:

'HA-20 Digital Scales 0.001g'

You can get them for around £20-£25 online. They're absolutely fine for typical weighing scenarios. Perhaps not so good for getting your 1mg etizolam from 100mg of powder. You'd need to dig in to your savings a bit for something truly accurate to 0.001mg every time.

Yeh, I've got these and they seem ok for most uses. However, I discovered their limitations when I got a g of phenazepam.. (say no more)!

Never had a problem with them, have to make sure they are calibrated often though.

Swear to god every person who's ever been somewhat responsible and who didn't have a fortune to spend on a real analytical scale has had this thing. Mine broke after 4-6 months, not too many uses (less than 50). It jumps 80mg when turned on. Funny thing is it is warrantied by AWS for another two years, however they wouldn't return my emails.

AWS can use their tongue to accurately weigh my balls ;) But for 19.99 and free shipping I can't really complain too much. It worked awhile, and the level of safety they provide is worth it. I need to buy a new one but I don't want this thing again. Sorry if I woke up a dead thread

lol, yes, snap. There is another scales thread doing the rounds and that model is all over that thread too. They can cost anything from £10-£30 depending how much you shop around. I agree with Marmalade that the bowl thing is not good, it's very 'clingy' for anything but the dryest and most crystaline of powders. But for a cheap way of getting measurements accurate to within ~0.5 - 5.0 mg or so you cant do any better for the price.

The 0.001 mg accuracy claim is bollocks though, and physically impossible to work with such tiny amounts anyway, unless you have relly specialist training and equipment. I had to buy a 2nd set as the first set broke too, the fact that i bought the same model again must either mean that i am lazy or there is nothing better for the price.

I've got these too. Think I paid about a tenner for em

They're not bad, but I don't like the little bowl thing. It's too textured and powders stick to it way too easily, which also makes things hard to measure for tiny amounts. you always have to have a flat surface like a baggie on top of it and drop your powder onto that, which isn't always convenient and makes things more fiddly

Might be worth seeing if you can get a second set or a replacement tray off Ebay or something (Tray would be simpler but when I looked at one point people were selling the trays for as much as the scales themselves o_O) - for ages my only scales were ones I borrowed from my friend, and they looked just like these, one of the generic Gemini-20 clones, from China. The tray was really textured and powders stuck to it too well just like you said.

Since I had to give that tray back I bought myself a replacement from Amazon, same type of scales but a different brand (actually got sent 2 scales due to a mistake but that's another story) and I got them and the quality was much nicer. The scales looked and behaved almost identically but they seemed to be more accurate, the tray was smoother and less sticky, and the quality of the scale was just nicer overall.

If it helps, the original slightly lower quality scales I were using were my friends that came from China, from Dealextreme.com - where the current scales I have are Smart Weigh Gem-20s from Amazon.co.uk (http://www.amazon.com/Smart-Weigh-GEM20-Precision-Milligram/dp/B00ESHDGOI), the latter costs a bit more but it was worth the extra few quid.

I looked again, mine was actually the AWS Gem 20, but they all look like that even if different brand.
