methylphenidate duration vs adderall/dexedrine

so ive now tried both adderall and dexedrine and i find them both somewhat impractical because taking either means no sleep for a very long time.

ive never tried methylphenidate but i noticed the half life is short. are the effects a lot shorter lasting than adderall/dex?
 
Yes, the effects are much shorter in duration than amphetamines. You'll notice 3 hours of stimulation, then nothing. It's not even a gradual comedown like with amphetamines, it's a very steep comedown which is why it has a very difficult comedown (depression is very severe, at least in my experience).
 
I prefer Dexedrine over either of those drugs I just pop a seroquel if I don't want to be up all night
 
Methylphenidate only lasts a few hours and has a much more noticeable comedown. The drop is sharp unlike with amphetamines. Some people have to be prescribed Ritalin four times a day because its so short acting. When I was 12 I had to be called up twice in the middle of school to come down and get my Ritalin. I had to take it every three hours.
 
yeah concerta (methylphenidate) is pretty much all the side effects of stimulants without the euphoria. you'll get like 2 hours feeling a little better, then 7 hours of a comedown. (from what ive experienced)
 
agreed with mgmt
that, and IMO, if you haev ANY stim tolerance, it wont do shit
i ate 120mg and fell asleep not long after, and slept very nicely
you get spun out like a MOFO but you dont get actually high IMO so you're just sketchin about how much your chest hurts, because that shit feels SO HARD on your heart.
me wont touch it, and i lieks teh stims
 
i've had prescriptions for all of the above other than adderall, and concerta legitimately NEVER worked for me, EVER at all.
concerta/ritalins..the ONLY time id ever want them is when im fiending, coming down and out of amphetamiens
 
its all the same shit.. methyl phen i date (concerta)
methyl phenyl(piperidin-2-yl)acetate
methyl= methanol
phenyl= benzene
acetate=acetic acid= the stuff in vinegar folks..
next we have this stufffffffhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piperidine
this is the part that gets you high all of the postiive effects come from this part of the molecule getting into your blood and then a small amount entering your brain..
the same action happens with amphetamine.. or alpha methyl phenyl ethyl amine

amine is a meaning the ammonia
ethyl is a meaning the ethanol
phenyl is a meaning the benzene

anyhoo.. what the dillyo on all u silly ol folks wanting to kill themselvez with speed.. adderall at low doses is nice.. but take a break for long periods.

You can kill yourself just as easily as you can with opiates. People have their own poisons and have their right to decide what they want to kill themselves with. I agree amphetamines aren't the way to go.
 
I remember when I was first diagnosed with ADD, I was prescribed Ritalin and holy crap the depression it caused me was unbearable. I was switched to Dexedrine, which I am still on.

I think methylphenidate is a nasty drug, but it works for many people. Millions are on it.

I'd say no. Dextro-amp is definitely harder on your peripheral system than methylphenidate is (at least in my experience). On Dexedrine I had a higher body temperature, higher blood pressure, higher heart rate, and so on. The difference is that with Dexedrine, the comedown was much more gradual, easier, and softer. You can feel yourself coming down, whereas with Ritalin it was not gradual at all and boom just sudden. On Ritalin, all of a sudden you find youself crying, depressed, and not in the mood for anything or anyone. With Dexedrine, you have time to gear yourself up with some benzos and other drugs that work against the comedown. Not so with Ritalin. Plus, Ritalin only lasts like 3 hours, while Dexedrine lasts up to 6/7 hours.
