Methylone after MDMA instead of more MDMA after MDMA. Neurotoxicity and depletion 5ht

Some speculate that methylone is less neurotoxic than MDMA, as it behaves more like a reuptake inhibitor rather than a releasing agent. No citation, but reasonable speculation.

If one were to take MDMA, redosing 4 hours later which one would be less stressful on your sert neurons: Methylone or MDMA? Subjectively second MDMA cap has some utility, but third MDMA cap is pretty much useless. Methylone on the other hand, after MDMA seems to work a bit better. Is there any evidence to suggest that consuming methylone after MDMA is more damaging than consuming more MDMA?

Probably needs to be said that methylone and MDMA with sufficient dosage could lead to serotonin syndrome. Based on that, Methylone after MDMA is not a "safer" option.

Given what we know about mephedrone and the other cathinones (they are releasing agents), we can expect methylone to be a releasing agent like its non-ketone parent.

If dosed correctly (i.e. no huge 5 gram bolus IV doses) methylone after MDMA should be no more risky than just redosing more MDMA. The only difference is that methylone is less selective for serotonin release and (IIRC) is more weighted towards norepinephrine/dopamine. However it still releases serotonin as well as NE/DA & hence depletes monoamines just like MDMA.

I'm not sure if it would really be any "safer"; you're still redosing drugs that promote oxidative stress and the release of large amounts of neurotransmitters.
