Methylallylescaline (MAL) - Beginner - Dancing in the wind with MAL ~

Hi! I'm a long time (5+ year) lurker, it's about time I posted a TR. :)

Early 30's female, 80kg (I'm tall)

Moderate psychedelic experience. I generally prefer low doses, but have experimented with 10g mushrooms and 600ug LSD once each. Counting DMT, probably ~20-25 trips. This is my first experience with Methylallylescaline, but it came highly recommended by Ebola so I gave it a try.

It was lovely enough that I went and immediately bought a gram!

It's wonderful, a little rough at times, but cannabis and a threshhold dose of MXE or two smoothed it out very well. In retrospect I would take a bunch of magnesium first, because the fidgetyness was a little rough at times if I sat down or lay down for extended periods. Dancing and movement felt great, but I was pretty tired after a while! :)

I would compare it directly with good LSD, since I've had both in the last month. Where LSD can sometimes be heavy-handed and forceful in it's personal realizations, I would say MAL is much gentler. It's like being made a conduit for all the universe to flow through you. :) I found an irresistable urge to dance and the movement of the wind, and it became a lovely theme for the whole day.

Definitely plan for a long trip, it seemed to last a good twelve hours with residuals until I fell asleep. (16 hours after dosing) It was pretty clear-headed though, so once you're down from the peak it's easy to socialize, then get lost in the dance again.

All in all, I would choose MAL for a fun day tripping over LSD most days. It seems more playful and less therepeutic, but it was also good at teaching me a few things I needed to realize in my life. Just not as... overwhelmingly as LSD does.

- Pre-trip -

In my quest for an ADD medication that doesn't make me a little crazy like the adderall I was prescribed, I've been taking Isopropylphenidate and tianeptine daily in very small doses with good success. Today was no different, but this would be the only time I dosed IPH today.

9:00 am: Dosed 10mg IPH and 12.5mg Tianeptine sodium orally.

Started watching cartoons, deciding whether or not I really wanted to do this or 4-ho-met or the last of the acid I had.

After talking to ebola a while the night before, I decided on the MAL. I had intended to take 20mg, but he recommended 35mg based on my preferring 100-200ug LSD doses, or 2g mushroom trips.

- Initial dose -

10:00 am: Dosed 35mg MAL in aqueous solution, measured volumetrically from a 5mL vial @ 20mg/mL.

I decided to start on the hour because I wanted to establish a baseline for how the IPH and Tianeptine effected me. I wasn't that nervous about tripping anymore, and felt ready to clean the house quickly and get ready for the day while I wait for the come-up. Looking nice and having a clean apartment is usually important for keeping me from having a bad trip if I have lost control of the experience.

10:35 am: Some nausea noted. I decided to lie down and watch cartoons for a while. The simpsons have always been a safe thing to focus on to make sure it's happy going into the experience.

10:45 am: Vaped nicotine @ 2mg/mL, very low nicotine

The nausea didn't get worse, it started to subside around this point. I felt an urge to smoke something, I took a few puffs off an eCigarette pen I had.

I felt thirsty and had a pitcher of water nearby, which I thought had been a good idea to have around.

10:50 am: First alert of effects. Mild visual shifting noted.

10:55 am: Vaped three more puffs of the e-pen.

Continued watching cartoons as the come-up started.

11:13 am: I had been marking in my notebook the time in minutes since dosing up to this point, but I noticed calculating how many minutes had gone by was more difficult. Switched to writing the time in case that continued.

I was hungry, so I made quick small bean taco. While normally I eat meat occasionally, I used to be a vegetarian. I noticed eating meat seemed unthinkable right now, I felt empathetic towards the animals that died to be food in the fridge.

(Side note, I still feel this way the next day, but hadn't thought about it until just now. For context, today I smoked a small amount of weed and about 15mg DMT to try out some I'd just gotten. This may be a factor.)

11:35 am: Some jitteryness noted, but it's not bad. I start to want to smoke cannabis to try to calm it, but decide to wait until 12:00.

12:05 pm: Stronger visuals. Smoked 2 hits of medical-grade cannabis. I'm starting to wonder how long I will be able to leave notes this detailed. I am still lucid enough to speak with my partner who is my sober sitter. I even seem mostly normal, she said.

12:15 pm: Starting to notice muscle tightness, and decide next time to take a magnesium supplement. I decide it's my body telling me to do some yoga, turn off the cartoons and dance. :)

Music provided by YouTube with adblock and noscript on to keep from getting ads. Really, really did not want to hear ads, I think it would have really messed with the experience.

I also notice how my slouching as I'm writing this seems to compress my diaphragm and make me breathe from the top of my lungs, making me more anxious. Standing up straight alleviated a lot of the anxiety.

While dancing, my heart rate was about 108. Resting, about 75 bpm.

1:15 pm: I went outside on the porch. There was a big wind storm going on. I laughed a lot because of how the tree outside our balcony was moving in the wind. At one point I realized the branches and pine needles looked like birds flying out of the tree because of the wind! This was lovely, the outside seemed so enchanted and alive!

The wind felt really nice too, and the strong gusts were surprising.

2:00 pm: Came back in and did some yoga. The sun salutation poses felt mind blowing! Like as I reached the top of the sequence of poses, I felt like the universe was hugging me and I was completely one with it. Like I had ceased to exist as me, and simply was the energy animating one and all. :)

2:17 pm: This is a very physical experience. Dancing was wonderful, I even turned off the music and continued to dance at one point. Intermittently did various yoga poses and returning to dancing. Occasionally going outside again to feel the wind in my hair and watch the trees dance.

3:00 pm: I get the sense that I am reaching the plateau. Continuing to dance and drink water. Some dehydration noted, but drinking water is very pleasant.

I start to note the differences between this and LSD. LSD sometimes is a more challenging trip, this isn't. I feel euphoric, almost like I would when I would add a half-dose of MDMA to my trip on acid. It has an entheogenic quality that's very nice :) I feel very connected to people when I talk to them, even over online chat.

4:00 pm: Definitely plateaued. I turn cartoons back on because I am too tired to keep dancing.

4:30 pm: First signs of coming down, but it's more gradual than LSD.

4:35 pm: The muscle tightness is getting bothersome, so I dosed 10mg MXP intranasally.

4:40 pm: Noticed an immediate reduction in all the bad effects, now I can enjoy the trip a lot better.

5:00 pm: Smoked another 2 hits of cannabis.

5:20 pm: I get a sense again that I have reached the end of the plateau. Effects seem to have reduced some, but not as fast as I expected. Still really lovely, I get up and dance a few more times, but it was because I wanted to not because I was compelled to.

6:00 pm: Finally hungry again, so I eat some granola. Definitely still tripping, but I am more clear-headed from this point on.

7:34 pm: Dosed 2mg 2-FMA Intranasal

I am noticing the visuals reduce a bit, so I insufflate 2mg of 2-FMA. Previously on LSD, I'd taken 2mg of 2-FA and gotten an intesification of the visuals with some lucidity.

7:40 pm: No change, except a little more lucidity.

7:50 pm: Dose 12.5 mg Tianeptine sodium.

Definitely notice a change 15 minutes later.

8:10 pm: A ringing in my ears happens briefly, and colors get more vivid. I worry briefly that it was a bad idea, but it is a short lived rush, followed by intensification of the visuals.

9:00 pm: Dosed 4mg MXE intranasally.

this made an excellent transition to the evening. MXE always seemed like a good nighttime experience, and this threshhold dose was enough to take the fidgetyness away again. The MXP had subsided.

Open-eye visuals still there and enjoyable, but reduced. Closed eye still going on, and trippy headspace still going on. I am calling it from now on "cactus space", where you feel like you're you again but still playing in the realm of the cactus. :)

Reminds me a lot of an improved version of a trip on peyote.

11:30 pm: Dosed another 4mg MXE intranasally and came to hang out and watch TV with my partner. We'd been seperate most of the day, she wasn't feeling well so she'd been hanging out in our room.

We watched cartoons and I talked about the experience, and we decided to get a gram of it. She's reluctant to take such a long trip, but since it presumably has a long shelf life I'll certainly get to it all eventually. I am excited to share it with my brother and his wife too! So I message him about the experience today.

1:30 am: Visuals and trippy headspace are still there, but I feel like they have transitioned more over to an MXE high with a little lingering MAL effects.

0.5mg Eitzolam was very relaxing, and falling asleep to some mild kaleidoscopic closed eye visuals was heavenly. :)

So there you have it! MAL is amazing, and I recommend it to anyone that enjoys psychedelics! I definitely recommend the MXE combo too, but since it's hard to find right now magnesium would help too.

Tianeptine seems to intensify it, and maybe lengthen it.

Next time, I am going to try intranasally and experiment with 4-FA at the peak and DMT on the come-down. I am excited! :)

Happy tripping!

[Edit: Eitzolam and Tianeptine were both taken orally. Also, I had been taking noopept daily up until this point, but skipped it this day. Not sure if that would have an effect, but I am curious as to peoples' thoughts on that.]

This is quite well-written: the level of detail presented really allows the reader to get a feel for what the experience might have been like. I was also wondering how this compound might combine with dissociatives.

I am going to try intranasally

Hmmm...though the compound is potent enough for this route to be viable, the couple reports I've seen suggest lackluster results (and a very uncomfortable nose). Since the time-course for this compound is so long, I wouldn't expect there to be much to be gained doing so. Why not just plug it?
