Is this real?? I am in Birmingham in the UK and we don't get meth here as far as I know. We don't get it much in the UK I don't think. This link was in a newspaper article (admittedly in the Daily (Hate) Mail which is a notorious scaremongering rag) shows how it deteriorates people. Is it REALLY this harmful?

That would genuinely stop me ever using it. They look like Zombies!!!

Those photos are clearly doctored. I've seen the original poster and it's not even close to being that bad. The coloration of the faces alone makes it obvious.

I've been using meth for about 3 months now. It IS addictive. I've seen some friends that's deteriorating or have bad hygiene. Never looked like that though. They just seemed skinnier. I don't show too much change. I'm actually the same. I'm actually quite the functioning addict. Not that that's a good thing. I'm spending too much money on it. I'm on meth as we speak. However I carry out the necessary steps to prevent the "zombified" look. Eating, sleeping(well more like naps), brushing my teeth, showering, multivitamins, etc. My only flaws are the track marks and addiction. other than that, I can maintain the same weight and even eat on it. I've been on meth all night since 5pm yesterday my time (eastern time zone) until 6:24am(now). I've had about .4 total, spreadout through the use of insuffulation, injection, oral, and smoking. Just got done eating a big bowl of noodles, rice, spicy pork, and two bowls of cereal, with a strong cup of coffee and milk. okay, that's enough of my tangents, don't mind me, I'm on meth. :-\

It's important to remember that other stimulants, including crack and cocaine, can do all of those things to you. Meth is not the only drug that can do all those things to you.

It's also important to remember that if you eat well, sleep enough, stay plenty hydrated, and get enough showers, that most of these problems won't effect you like they do the typical hardened methamphetamine addict.

When I was using methamphetamine (a long time ago; I no longer use it and don't care to anymore) I would get some acne but not as much as I had as a teen. I lost quite a bit of weight but for me I find it hard to eat as is so meth didn't really hurt my ability to eat compared to baseline (and if you know what's easy to eat on meth you can stay well nourished this way), I was very careful to drink enough water, and I tended to take more showers on meth than I do now off of it. My teeth are 100% fine compared to pre-methamphetamine use. My skin has returned to normal.

The only thing is, the weight I lost is not coming back full force; a lot of the fat I used to have is still gone...but I'm not complaining. =D

A more realistic scare mongering tactic for meth use would be a before and after effects on a person's personality, social life and family.

Yes this can happen to people when they abuse meth for an extended period of time. However, these are the extreme cases in which people have essentially only smoked copious amounts of meth, without taking any care of themselves, e.g. Cleaning their teeth, taking showers and eat nothing. But like mentioned earlier, this happens to all sorta of pure stimulant a users that take no care of themselves and take extremely high doses (and luckily not die from doing so for so long). It's not just faces of meth, it's faces of crack abusers, coke abusers, MDMA abusers, mephedrone abusers etc.

Whilst it ain't big in Brum it certainly is there mate! And yes it makes you look shit after heavy use, but don't most things??

And also...if you got pinched whilst you were HIGH AS FUCK. You police photo is always gonna be super super terrible.
Being in a cell, high, tripping, tweaking, strung out or whatever is possibly one of the worst things that can happen to a human. Terrible

Well I have the feeling these individuals were given a fairly high level source of methamphetamine in which they were able to mindlessly take advantage of large quantities. On top of this, they probably neglected their water intake, food and sleep to the point of organ failure.

It's a good example of adaptation if anything. As meth becomes more available in the next few years due to a decline in illicit marijuana sales, people who cannot handle the addiction will end up similar to these individuals. It's not as easy of a "decision" like the media likes to portray it. Some people are born into the twisted world. Some genetics do not care for meth, while others practically rely on the high chasing.

However you do not see these wicked transformations with many other drugs. I could see 4-MAR and MDPV being examples of "possible" deterioration competition.

Two comments:

1. The girl with the horrifying looking plasticky face obviously got that way because of second or third degree burns. If meth related, it's because she was trying to make meth herself, not because she was simply taking meth.

2. The woman with the really bad facial scars probably had something more than a meth habit going on.

3. As for the other faces, overall, most of these aren't REALLY that bad, and could simply be the result of different lighting. Actually in a lot of the pictures the before shot seems to have much brighter lighting.

Well, as others basically said, for most people it's not like that. I know several people who have been taking meth pretty heavily for 5 years and you wouldn't notice, they look exactly the same. But when you talk to them it's a different story, no sense of true friendship or joy of life when they talk.

So basically these anti-meth ads are often exaggerating and/or picking the worst examples; but to be fair, it's not a bad thing they do it because meth is just a drug that is NOT worth trying imo, as what's going on in meth users heads is far worse than look of their faces...

So if i got this right its the malnutrition that does this then? Im surprised things get this far without people having heart attacks and organ failure beforehand.

Well it least it makes me feel better about not dropping dead on the stuff suddenly. I have time then. Party On.

^ The malnutrition & dehydration, plus overall weakening of immunity system, also possibly less effective cardiovascular.
The scratches come for constant scratching because of the illusion of bugs crawling under the skin. Which is caused by that famous meth psychosis, which usually take a fairly long time to develop, the more responsible users may luckily never experience it.

I myself only did meth very few times, like 5 or 6 times and fortunately it didn't seem that euphoric for me to ever want to repeat it again (probably just weak stuff), although all the side effects were all there - massive heartbeat and inability to sleep for 16+ hours after last dose.

I highly doubt the photos are doctored, they are just the worse case scenarios. I see about a hundred people who look exactly like the ones in those photos every day, as I live near an area which has a large population of people (mostly street people/people living in poverty even if they don't actually sleep on the street) who are addicted to meth or crack (or multiple drugs). It is not an inevitable effect for everyone who ever uses meth, but it is a very real effect of the damage that meth or crack can have on some people. And it's not something you choose or can know in advance whether or not it can happen to you. I have seen friends go from the "before" to the "after" photo, barely recognizable, their lives and bodies/faces destroyed.

I agree, gone 9 months and its getting boring now. Its the best euphoria i have tried so far but its still not god enough to go the zombie route.
Look i figure out high doses are needed to have power euphoria and zero perception of side effects. But then its not very functional. More of a hide in your room and avoid others at those doses.
