Methadone - Lifer

Funny you should say that. I got off methadone 3 times in my history. Long time ago. All kicks were hard, but after 5 weeks started feeling much better. But I had a friend (RIP) that was known to be a baby about most things. He got off of being on methadone after 3 years. Slow taper, even stayed at 1 mg for a month then jumped. He said he did not have withdrawal. A lot of his friends sort of laughed at that knowing him. But he sort of proved if you go slow enough it can be easier. He was not one to exercise and he smoked like a chimney. So yeah.
I went from 100mg to off in about half a year and I don't remember getting sick really. it made me wish I would've gotten off sooner.

Alright, I feel like it's time for an update since you guys were so kind to give me your thoughts (and the conversation goes down rabbit holes - which I enjoy).

It's been about a 45 days on Methadone and am at a stable dose. I have zero scoliosis pain. I am forgetting my chiropractor appointments because I'm now pain free!
I feel more like myself and my thinking is much clearer. I don't feel the dose when I take it, which is great, because there's no feeling for me to chase. The women at my clinic are so sweet. My Doctor is kind of strict with me, but that's okay. I need the accountability. The problem I am facing now is trying to convince them to give me the wafer formulation for my take homes. I asked but the Doctor refused and gave me a reason that didn't seem completely honest. However, she did say that they did offer it, it just costs more. I told her that's fine. How should I go about asking again? I can tell you this, I sure as shit ain't getting on an airplane with individual liquid doses where they tend to bust under the pressure. Flying is stressful enough and that would just be too much for me.

I just found out from doing tests that my testosterone is in the dumps; it's clinically low. My Doctor has a protocol he wants me to go through before starting me on TRT. No wonder I have been lethargic and unmotivated for months. I know that opiates and especially Methadone can cause low T, but don't think I've been on Methadone long enough for it to be the culprit.

I am going to be more strict with my diet and what I put into my body. I am going to follow my Doctors instructions, but will also do things within my control that can help. I am going to exercise more and start doing resistance training (3x a week). I am not going to get as stoned or at all. I need a break from it anyway. It stopped working for me awhile ago. I figure now is a good time take a break because I think we can all agree that it doesn't help motivation much. Plus, it's so damn potent now and days, it's like a different drug than it was in the 70's. I am NOT for complete abstinence so I will not quit entirely but cut down enough to where it wouldn't be contributing to the issue. Too much of ANYTHING isn't good. Plus, my goal is to have as few vices as possible. Yes, I am dependent on my medications, but not addicted to them. Big difference.

Overall though, I give it an 8 out of 10. It would be 9 or 10 out of 10 if they agree to give me the WAFERS lol!
