methadone in what quantity? i was having WD's this morning and i took a 5mg methadone pill.. and i was still so sick. so i chewed another 5 mg- held it under my tongue as long as possible (it burned a little) and i felt a bit better but not great.
Same question with Tramadol. Will tramadol help with WD symptoms and at what dosage?
Are there any other meds, substances that help with WD's?
I am always told Benzos. But, Benzos don't help at all unless I am taking in large dosage to make me sleep. I have a very high tolerance for Benzos and I worry that the amount I would need would be dangerous.
i am so worried my PM Dr has taken me off all opiate medication and put me on topomax now. i would rather have those shitty plastic new opana than nothing!!
so i will try the topomax and see how that goes for now. i will be in a world of hurt, WD's and depression very soon.

Fighting opiate withdraws with other opiates isn't really goning through all the motions. I don't understand exactly what your asking methadone or tramadol will kill opiate withdraw because both are opioids if ya got enough of those to make it back to your pm doctor that's what I'd do it does take a lot of trams to keep wds from comming on but if you got em they'll work you'll just have to take 3-4 at a time.

What are you withdrawing from and in what dosage? We can't know how much methadone or tramadol you would need if we don't even know what drug and dose you were on.

Are you doing this without your doctor's knowledge/supervision? I'm assuming you are since you are asking here. What happened? Were you on a pain med and your doctor cut you off?

Also the dosage of a drug needed to alleviate your withdrawals will vary from person to person, so what is normally done is just starting with a low dose and gradually raising it until you feel better. There is also often a few days where you won't feel complete relief until your body adjusts to the new drug. And keep in mind that methadone can take a few hours to fully kick in.

I got a new pain managent dr that does not "recommend" the use of opiates for chronic and long term use. I was prescribes 20 mgs of Opana a day but would usually supplement along with 40- 80 mgs of norco a day as well.
I have started the topomax and dissolving 1.5 Opana's a day and plugging 5 to 10 ml every 4 hours or as needed. I will probably be out in two weeks. I did email my old PM Dr and told her I am fine with coming off opiate meds (after two years of documented use) but that I feel like I am dying and I don't know what to do. No reply as of yet.

Sorry, I'm still a bit unclear on a few things. Was the Norco prescribed to you or something you got illicitly and took without your Dr's knowledge? And what do you mean by 1.5 Opanas a day? How many mg is that? And how many mg is in 5-10ml of your solution?

And are you saying your doctor is still prescribing you 20mg Opana/day but your last fill will run out in 2 weeks and then you will be prescribed no opioids at all? If so, that seems brutal to just cut you off cold turkey. Are you supposed to be tapering right now or something? I would try to talk more with your Dr about this and that you need a controlled gradual taper, and if your current Dr won't help you talk to your previous one. Expecting you to quit abruptly after 2 yrs just sounds cruel.

We can help you come up with a plan to taper with whatever drugs you have left if you want, and there are also a ton of threads on here about dealing with withdrawal symptoms.

Sorry you're feeling so shitty. I remember your thread from a few days ago. Maybe try calling the doctor in the morning and tell them what you are experiencing. I would save the methadone because you still have opanas left. See if this doctor will help you taper down. It seems irresponsible to just abruptly cut you off like this. She's gotta know you are suffering.

I just need to keep my ED's in control until I can refil my Rx. Tramadol does nothing for me but I'll ask for some to keep on hand for months I run short. My pain management Dr will not refil early.
Thank you

The norco's were not prescribed. Only the Opana 10 mgs 2 x per day were. Dr has no idea I was taking Norco 10/325 or Norco 7.5/325.
I dissolve 15 mgs of new Opana formula I. 20 ml of water and use all day long as needed to keep WD at bay.
My new Dr did email back and this is what she said: "Given that you were on low dose methadone, it is not necessary to taper. Withdrawal symptom is not expected from this dose. "
First- she obviously has not looked at my health record. I have been a pain management patient for 2.5 years. I've been on Norco, morphine, fentanyl& Opana.. Morphine was given to me for a 4 day period while I waited to be assigned a new DR. Because new Opana formula upset my stomach. (Old Dr left.. I had no idea old Dr was leaving) since then I have sent my new dr 2 emails via Kaiser.org. Both emails disappear from server. No reply. Fishy fishy fishy. What do I do??!

What? Even if you actually had only been on a low dose of methadone it would still need to be tapered. So many doctors have little compassion and knowledge about opioid withdrawals. I would suggest you talk to your Doctors in person, email is not very effective in my experience.

So now, are you being cut off your Opana and prescribed just tramadol or what?

I think your idea of trying to make the Opana stretch as far as possible is good. You might also want to look at the threads on things you can do to help with withdrawals.
For example The Opioid Withdrawal Megathread and FAQ.
