hey guys...ok, I am looking at 2 reputable websites describing how drugs that inhibit or induce specific CYP enzymes (especially CYP 3A4) affect the metabolism of methadone. One says that drugs that inhibit CYP enzymes result in higher drug levels in the body and inducers result in lower than expected drug levels, and then the other has the complete opposite.
I have always thought that drugs that INHIBIT these CYP enzymes boost their metabolism resulting in lower than expected levels of methadone.
And that INDUCERS slow their metabolism resulting in higher than expected drug levels.
I just wanted to make sure that what I thought was correct.
