Hi, my brother is 16 year old and he is consuming methamphetamine (by smoking it) in alternate periods, like 3 days or 2 a week, stop a month and then start again, he always smoke it from foil or glasspipe and he told me that his pulse it's around 95-100 per minute when he smoke the first time of the day (not moving only sitting down) , he apparently hasn't got any heart problem or lung problems but i'm worried if he can suffer from a heart attack or something like that (he has asthma), he always have his feet and hands very cold but no change in their color....

i'm worried, i also use drugs but mainly psychodelics not that kind of substances and i think he is abusing it too much for his age (he isn't developed also i think he is just starting puberty...)

Last month he didn't consume any ice and his O2 saturation was very good and a x-ray toracic scan also good and and his tension was also okay, but that was the past moth (he didn't consume anything in that month except mdma and others ) althought two months ago he had consumed like this month (january i meaning).

thank you in advance!

note: can he suffer of a heart problem if not now in the future?

Elevated BP and HR (chronic tachycardia and hypertension) is the side-effect of pretty much all euphoric stimulants, especially methamphetamine. This can lead to myocardial infarction (heart attack), cerebral infarction (stroke), enlarging of the heart muscle, etc. It's bad for you...

Hi there, and welcome to Bluelight.

I think that you might be able to get better responses to your question over in The Dark Side, so I'll send your thread that way for now. Hopefully the mods over there agree. :P

Where are your parents in all of this? It doesn't sound like you and your brother have much supervision, but I could be totally off base.

I personally think that using any meth is too much for his age or any age, frankly, but that's just me. Stick around this Forum and you'll hear the horror stories.

I don't think that's so true.... My mother is very strict and always was up my ass (hahah not literally obviously) and I still managed to do a lot of drugs. Even get myself into an oxycontin addiction and she didn't know.

I would just talk to him and tell him how you feel....and you're worried about him. Hopefully he will listen, I had to do the same talk with my sister but oddly she didn't get mad but listened to me. Believe it or not your younger siblings do look up to you... Other than that, if his use gets too bad or anything I think you should tell your parents. I'm not down on snitching or whatever but if you're really worried about him tell your parents, maybe he can get help. The worst that can happen is he tells about your psychedelic usage but who cares it sure has hell ain't meth!

Yeah but i'm worried if he got any brain damage or other damage due to his use, and if he is at time to get that damage repaired, he smoked meth again since i put that, the thing is that he smokes a little bit, he didn't measure , only puts a little, i think maybe 15-20mg each bowl, and do it 1 to 3 times a day, the friday maybe more , i have talking to him all this time and he is ready for change that habit he say... mmm total he told me like maybe a month or two with that doses, stopping for two months one time and started again.

so the question , if he got any brain damage or organ damage or other (specially brain damage) how can he recover from it? or it's impossible , cause he is only 16 year old and he appear to be like 14 year haha? if yes he need to use any supplement or that or just go to a doctor or what, i'm very confused on that i'm just trying to help him... i read somewhere that 2c-x are good for stimulant abuse, should i dose him with some or is too risky putting a 16 year old in that? brother told me that he used half a blotter one time but i think that is a shit i've done lots of psychedelics much times.

That's often how people smoke meth-- it's usually eyeballed.

The brain is actually very resilient, and can recover from some pretty major stresses. I'd be far more concerned about the nascent addiction. Meth is very addictive on its own, and with such a strong route of administration it is very easy to get badly addicted. Particularly in one so young. And don't dose him with anything else. Seriously. Try to support him to get off the meth; it sounds like he's not in too deep just yet. It'll only get worse.

Okay that's what i'm going to do.

He just loves to be high all the time, i think i need to tell him another alternative more safe? like MDMA or LSD? i'm confused what to do with him , he seem to be disposed to leave meth but i don't trust him very much haha

Also anyone can explain more about the damages he could obtained?

thank you in advanse!!

binge

UPDATE: He told me that he was high on meth all this week, smoking about 1,5 grams of crystal in a week (all 7 days) binge, could this be very harmful (not to mention addiction cause i think he is already addicted :() or have any irreversible consequence for him? i'm not sure but i think he had just forgotten things and doesn't care about high school just like before his use... that's why i'm asking that initially for his ''rare'' symptoms , or are just my thoughts? 8(

i think he is very young and can recover of any meth damage (it has low testosterone levels, and it's in puberty right now i think)

he isn't eating and sleeping almost anything, should i give to him any supplement like Fe, Vitamin B, phenylalalinen, levodopa.. i've been reading or something like that or i just tell the thing to our parents?

thank you!

I think that it would be wise to tell your parents about your brother's use. He is risking his life so whatever problems this causes between the two of you or within your family pale in comparison to losing him to a horrible addiction at 16. You obviously love you brother very much and your desire to protect him and care for him is very honorable. Still, in the end, your brother will be the one to decide if he wants out of this. Get support for yourself, understand what you can and cannot control and try not to be consumed by worry. <3

I agree with your senteminent but traditional drug treatment for people his age has proven to be innefective and can actually be harmful for some. He could go in smoking meth and come out shooting heroin or at the very least with better connections and a new peer group. If I was you I would try to find whats driving his use and get those treated or leave it alone its possible its just a phase he is going through 16 is too young to start slapping labels like addict on people.

Hey, thank you for all responsesm i take care for my brother specially in this questions cause i use psychoactives also but mainly psychodelics and little times, i'm interested in the brain chemistry and drugs in general, but he don't seem to know the brain chemistry and that things that go with the effects of drugs (sorry for my bad explanation i'm not english) and he just smokes meth cause it's good and give to him pleasure, i told him the good things of other substances but he don't care he just keep smoking....

i think i will tell to parents, but i don't wanna go with my family to a doctor and say hey my brother was using crystal meth too much, what problems he have?

could anyone of here told to mine? also i noted on him red- blue knees and fingertips sometimes , what is that? it's for the vasoconstriction normally or it's simply a bad sideffect for too much using? i think he is lying to me in some parts...

thank you!

As long as your brother is young and healthy and doesn't overdose he won't die just like that by using a short while.
Problem is that it's very unlikely to stay like this. He's gonne get or already is addicted. Methamphetamin gets people hooked quickly and is especially dangerous on a minor whose brain isn't fully developed yet. As young as he is he probably doesn't see the dangers of long-term use or thinks he could just quit anytime he wants. The longer this continues the harder it will get to get him off the stuff. He needs intervention now.
Depending on where you live you might be able to aquire information-material about the harm done by the drug from your public health department. Perhaps if he sees the danger he puts himself into written black on white he realises that he needs to stop.
If i was in your shoes i'd find out who sells the stuff to him and have a serious word with that person.

^This.

Anyone selling drugs to minors should have their knees busted out from under them. They are unable to understand the consequences of their actions at this age and are more prone to risky behaviour for this reason.

the problem is that i don't know who is selling drugs to him

this morning he smoked meth again, and he had the same red hands and almostblue knees :( please help on that

i showed to him the faces of meth and some tv ads but he says he can quit it when he like (just like me with tobacco i though.... :( )

i'll only tell our parents in a month if he don't change by that time.

thank you!

Grab his phone when he takes a shower or something and check the outgoing calls to find out who's his dealer. Totaly not a cool thing to do, but justified in this situation imho. Cutting the source in combination with drug-education is probably the best solution here.
"Faces of meth" and TV-Ads are more like the Bogeyman - scare tactics he won't take serious.
Straight medical facts will work better i believe. Something like this or this perhaps.

ok

Okay think will do that, i hope it will change him!

any updates will be posted here and thank you a lot really guys!
