^^ I've been called just about everything short of evil by police (As well as having a gun pointed in my face) for smoking dope when I was 16.
I have very little respect for police officers who enforce simple possession drug laws in non-violent, non-distribution, non-crime situations. I have had far too many encounters in upper-middle class suburbia towns that have WAY too active of a police force relative to the non-existent crime in the area.
There is a huge distinction between law enforcement being enacted upon violent and/or malicious individuals and overzealous, overpaid, overstaffed police departments harassing private citizens who are otherwise entirely law abiding and functioning, productive members of society because of personal decisions that are only harmful to themselves, if at all.
As far as I am concerned those who are responsible for the jailing, prosecution and otherwise harassment of individuals simply because they are exercising their natural right to control what they put into their own body are criminals themselves.
It is ironic, in my opinion, that those given authority in America are generally scum scraped off the bottom of the societal barrel. There ARE good cops but they aren't arresting people for getting high. They're fighting violent crime.
