my muscles around my heart hurt me. i went to the doctor and he told me that the muscles are torn and that meth can break your heart. i haven't touched meth since last week and i will never touch that crap again but will this muscle pain around my heart go away? i feel better than last week so is that a progress?

Haha wow man thats a new one for me but ya if it feels better than last week it should be healing i dont know if it will back 100% tho might wanna ask the doctor about it.
my doctor told me that meth can really blow up the heart like kill everything inside it slowly. i just hope that i don't get a heart attack in the future because of this.

Did your doc say exactly what he though the problem was ? or suggested a treatment, it all sounds a bit vague. It might be this :-

Costochondritis

But here are a whole heap of other things it could also be and that's juts me doing a quick search on the net, you doctor needs to tell you what his diagnosis is and if any treatment is required in the mean time your doing the right thing in stopping with the meth, but I wouldn't go writing yourself off just yet.

When you were using/abusing what was the extent of said usage ? Lets say how much in a 24hr period ?

thats exactly how i feel. that wikipedia information is the way i am feeling. my doctor didn't even tell me anything. i shouldn't had said that this has been happening after i did meth. he just assumed it was my muscles being torn from meth.

the funny thing is that i was just a moderate user. i did it every saturday for the last 4 weeks and i started doing meth 4 weeks ago but i was always kept it once a week.

Did your doctor give you a stress test or EKG(ECG) to check your heart?

i would see another doctor and get a 2nd opinion. I very much doubt meth destroyed your heart...

As the other guys said, see another doctor, and maybe don't mention your drug use this time. It sounds like he just heard 'meth' and immediately stopped giving a shit. If your heart muscles were actually 'torn', you'd be dead right now.

If you're not sure of the diagnosis or if you want some more medical advice then go back and ask your doctor what they meant, or see another doctor for a second opinion. Chest pain can be from the muscles in your chest wall, or from the muscles pumping your heart, or for other reasons.. There's no way for us to know what is causing this over the internet, and we're not a medical forum, so it is always better to speak to a doctor face to face.

A second opinion seems like the best bet here. 8 uses of methamphetamine isn't going to "rip up everything in there" so to speak. Otherwise meth users wouldn't live long enough for teeth and hair to fall out.

Ive never done meth but everything I have read about the drug can go either way. Some people can have bad effects after 1 use & other can use it for a long time w/o many problems. You were probably having chest pains because of the meth use & its normal for your body to give you warnings like chest pains telling you to slow down or stop using meth for now.

You have used a total of 4 times as you stated so I wouldnt flip out just yet. Like the other posters have stated, go seek a 2nd opinion & maybe a 3rd one as well........good luck!

Yea as soon as most medical professionals hear any kind of drug being used they always assume that, the drug and THAT ONLY is the sole cause of what is wrong with you, which is not always the case...they also tend to take on a very condescending demeanor and tend to treat you as a second class patient. Apparently an RN degree also comes with the right to judge people.

Ive never heard of anyones heart being destroyed from street speed, adderall or ritilan or any shit and they give that stuff to children. So considering amphetimenes dont destroy your heart i dont see why meth would...

Prolonged high blood pressure can certainly shorten your life span, but it's nothing like the inevitable open heart surgery many cocaine users face 10-20 years down the road.

Know someone that did some serious coke back in the late 80's early 90's & when he was in his late 40's, he needed to get stents put in his arteries........I guess his arteries were slowing getting clogged.

I Know! Don't you just hate holier than thou medical professionals. God just cause you when to med school doesn't make you some priest.

Maybe try seeing a cardiac specialist as opposed to a GP who is probably clueless about the effects of these drugs and didn't perform any actual diagnostic tests on you. Though it might just be easier to find a competent primary care doctor.
