SOrry if this is posted in the wrong place or if the topic has been covered elsewhere .
But i need some advice regarding meth.
Ive been smoking crystal meth around on average 3 times a week for the past 2 and a half years. I ve always struggled with OCD and severe Anxiety..but i feel this has greatly exaberated my OCD and my anxiety ..I have been clean for about 2 qweeks and plan on kiking it alltogether. MY question is how long does it take i noe its hard to give precise answers but for the brain to recuperate and restore normal balance of neurotransmitters dopamine etc and will my anxiety issues decrease in severity after along poeriod of abstinence?? thanku for any help

Speed is terrible for anxiety so stopping will definitely help improve your symptoms over time. You mentioned having it before ever using meth, so you will most likely need to deal with whatever has been causing it in the first place. Stopping your use may make this easier as you'll be able to think more clearly and better process your experiences after the initial period of adjustment.

Unless the fear is based on something that is happening in the present moment, anxiety creates a very distorted narrow perception of reality. You may have several false beliefs that are causing you to interpret things in such a way. For example if you think that you are worthless, then all your experiences will be filtered through this lens and create a lot of stress in your interactions.

So good job getting off the meth...be patient and you can figure out what else is causing you to feel this way.

if im correct, it can take months or years to "get back to normal" or it could never happen, it could be permanent.

i havent used meth in almost 2 weeks now. i feel okay, but definitely not back to full capacity. when i used meth, i always thought about what i was doing to my brain and how it could be permanent. i too am trying to stay away from the meth. god is it hard...but youre doing great so far. just stick with it.

It is impossible for us BLers to tell if you have caused permanent or temporary side effects on your brain.

I think you just have to stay clean off the junk and hope for the best mate .

Most people get better , but everyone is different. Meth abuse (or even use) causes very strong psychological addiction . Stay busy, eat healthy foods , exercise . Don't hang out with your meth-using clique of friends . Good luck matey

godlovesugly, i love the handle...i just wanted to let you know that, and this is how i have to do it...since I cannot yet "PM." anyways, you've a way cooler and more imaginative handle than mine, and for that i envy you. atmosphere is the shit. anyways, have a swell day.

70% reversible 30% permanent is my personal opinion from observing people. There will be more recovery of mood than cognition.
