meth and memory loss

The last two times I have done meth daily for a period of time I find myself having difficulty remembering things such as words, ideas, events. Its not really that things are being erased from my memory, just that my recall mechanism isn't functioning properly, and once I remember something (usually after a while of thinking) I dont have problems with it from there on. Also I usually recall things that I couldn't while on meth after I cease usage for a couple of days. I was wondering if anyone else experiences this with meth and whether or not I am doing permanent damage to my memory (which I dont think is the case) or just my brain works different while tweaking. I have no problem recalling information I learn on meth, and usually remember them quite well (studying).

I don't know if this helps you out, but when I study on meth, I can remember everything while on it, but once it wears of, I tend to forget most of the information I grasped.

Surprisingly & maybe even shockingly this is quite normal. Prolonged abuse of meth in a great quantity or even a lesser dose can cause temporary memory loss. I wouldn't worry that much about it as long as you were confined to a particular spot when you were on. We don't neeed a fucking super villein that doesn't know he is causing a crime wave. So your options are either deal with it or take lower doses...

It's not really that big of a deal. Just a little annoying when I try to explain something and can't remember the correct adjective to use, but other than that I don't mind. I was just wondering if this happened to anyone else.

Let me see if I understand what you are saying. After a I assume reasonable meth binge (If you are shooting grams a day well your fucked) for a couple days after you feel kinda slow and tend to stop in the middle of a sentence searching for the right word. It just seems a like talking just doesn't flow as well and you aren't quite on the ball.
I have this after meth use and it goes away pretty quickly. I really don't know at what doses it starts to become neurotoxic but I doubt this is a symptom. The fact that it disappears fairly quickly and can be caused by moderate usage (I know moderate users who have used this way for many years and are not obviously fucked up) seems to suggest that this is just the crash.
Little surprise. Your on meth, you always have the right words, your always on the ball etc.. Surprise surprise you feel sorta the opposite comeingdown.
I would expect neurotoxic effects to be longer lasting and cumulative.
The gold standard question is whether people on short term coke binges have similar feelings.

While I admittedly have never tried the drug (and never plan to) I have known several addicts, most of whom have since kicked the drug. All of them report memory loss, they say they can't remember as much as 25% or their lives. Keep in mind these weren't the people who use in moderation, they were binge users and/or hardcore addicts, so that kind of memory loss would almost be understandable. Best guess on my part is that if you have been binge using (and not on a regular basis) it's more of the deprivation of sleep getting to your brain than anything else.

i call this my 'stupid' period of the comedown, and it can last up to 4 or 5 days. I can relate entirely... i tend to get the feeling that i've amputated about 50% of my vocabulary, and i struggle to articulate ideas in a coherent fashion.
the good news? - i usually start to regain my powers of recall pretty much as soon as i've slept.
the bad news- I have the uncomfortable suspicion that i never really make it entirely back to the 100% mark, that every time i use, i lose just a little more of my cognitive ability.
the prices we pay...

Ya, I was mostly jsut rambling when I posted this. It is jut part of the comedown I guess and it always does come back. But I also can never tell if it comes back completely, but if it doesn't, it hasn't posed a problem yet.

Yup, meth is alot like e. Just like e it has a couple day crash.
You do too much you get neurotoxed....how much who knows but the crazy bingers are definatly up there.

well ive never heard of this but i think meth makes my brain work better...it could be your staying up to many days and thats why your brain fucks up...anything over 72hrs. is not a good idea.
