metal-tasting substance in a drink. please help me find answers

Since I found this site, I am hoping someone can help me solve a mystery. Years ago, when I was 18 and stupid, I met a guy on the streets working for Greenpeace. He was hitting on me, and I was flattered. I was living in DC at the time, and had just moved there on my own--he lived in a pretty shitty area of DC (SE, if you are from there). Anyways--I didn't tell my roommate where I was going and I went over his house. His roommate was there, some large lady probably in her late 20s. Anyways he gave me a beer that he opened in front of me. It tasted normal, it was a weird brand something I'd never seen before or again. I had a second one, and this one I noticed he had prepared in his kitchen. I tasted mine, and it tasted the same but had a FANT taste of something almost like it had blood in it. it was really metal tasting almost. He was encouraging me to chug it down, but because I was naive I did it. Anyways, I was REALLY intoxicated at this point (Which was odd because in those days, I could handle 12 drinks in a night) and I made out with him, blah blah...and all that I remember is walking up the stairs, and waking up at about 4am in his bed. Thinking I had a blackout. It always troubled me. I noticed I was in pain, and that I was bleeding. I ended up calling a cab, and when I realized I left my keys at his place, I broke down and the next thing you know the police are there, and I end up telling the whole story. of course the police were assholes to me, and saying "well you MUST drink a lot if you could taste the difference".

Well back then you couldnt get a rape kit, unless you agreed to press charges. But I did get drug tested, a fancy lab test, and nothing came back, except of course for weed and amphetamines. and you can bet how credible I was then.

Anyways--I'd like to know what the hell was in that drink. I have been searching for a long time.

I hope this is okay to put here. I know this isn't what people talk about normally, but it is a harm reduction site, so I am hoping that maybe this will help someone else out.
 
I'm really sorry to hear about that story, and I hope you are recovering from it alright. People in this world astound me with their heartlessness every day, but that isn't what this is about...

I don't want to sound like an asshole, but I doubt anyone would be able to ID what was put in your drink from just a metallic taste. Not only that, but ID threads aren't aloud on bluelight so it will likely be closed soon. If I had to guess it would be GHB, because I've heard it smells/tastes foul. Roofies and such don't have a taste, so they are used by creeps in this situation.

it could have been any number of thing, i thinl GBL has a metalic taste (it metabolised into GHB in your body) and even for the most experienced drinkers, a couple of beers and some GBL with no tolerance, will have you blacking out quick... maybe it didn't show up in the drug test coz it wass allready out of your system, i don't know GBL/GHB's half life...

sorry such a horrible thing happened to you, there are some real assholes out there... but take the lesson with you, only take a drink thats opened in front of you (unless you're with very close friends) don't have to be paranoid either
 
Thanks for taking the time to respond. It was a long time ago, and unfornately I fell into some bad shit after this happened to me. Though I suppose it's unfair to blame this one incident. Only to learn more life lessons the hard way. I am figuring you are probably right, I believe I got drug tested close to 18 hours after I had the drink, because of how slow things worked.

And yes, there are some real assholes out there. There really are.
 
Well I got in trouble for underage drinking, yes from this incident. it's bullshit but that's a different story. And I was forced to do community service on campus, where I naturally met other "offenders" and kind of started getting into experimenting with things both drugs and sexual. I was really depressed and in a dark place, so I was doing dark things. I am not sure how much I should elaborate here. But it ended up--with me getting arrested and in a holding cell while having a miscarriage. (that i didnt even know about).


I figured, I bet it was GHB....that makes sense. I had never done it before, and I have never done it since.
 
Sounds like GHB. It happened to me. I woke up in a hospital with GHB poisoning... It was horrible. I was treated like shit at the hospital as well. I hope you find what closure you are looking for and I am sorry this happened to you.
 
I don't really know what diphenhydramine tastes like, but I watched something on t.v. before of a girl swearing she was raped and drug tested and they didn't find anything. turns out, he was using just regular benadryl.

but you woke up pretty early, so I don't know. I'd think if you took enough benadryl to fuck you up along with some alcohol you'd sleep for a bit longer than till 4am. so I really don't know.
 
believe me, it nothing commonly used for date rape like GHB or anything if the hospital did bloodwork, there tests are SO EXTENSIVE they go down to the tee and even test for acetminophen, so i think it would of showed up if it was a roofie or something, idk ho wlong after u took the test but sometimes it takes alot for a substance to show up in ur blood,. for example i took 20mg ativan at age 15, ended up in the hospital resp. depression and the nurse came back and found "trace amounts of lorazepam" so there u have it with blood work
