Meprobamate (Soma)

I was wondering if any one had any experience with Soma. It is metabolized into Meprobamate which is a hypnotic sedative that is rarely prescibed now a days. It's one of my fave's on the list of cool pharms, but no one ever mentions it and it is pretty commonly prescribed. In my experience it's like Klonopin if you take a lot, but I was wondering what everyone else thought, if anyone has any storys about it or if I am running over old terrioty.

You're running over old territory. I don't think there have been any posts about it in the past two weeks, but there's at least 1 thread a month about Soma.
As far as pharms go, it comes right after opiates and pharmaceutical speeds in popularity.
 
In my opinion I think it's pretty weak. I have to take a bunch of them to feel the effects, but, the high is nice & relaxing. One drawback is drinking on them. Mixing Alcohol & Soma's is a no no. Like Soviet Contin said do a search on Somas. There were a few threads on then about a month ago & they have some information in there that you might like...
 
i a big fan of somas i get 120 a month but i go through them in a week but its one hell of a week iusaully don't remeber anything.it best to mix them with opiates and benzos. personally i take 3 somas three 10mg lorcet and 3 img xanax and im good to go. but like the others said take to many or drink with then and good night.
 
my spring break this year was an all out soma coma. I ate 5 one morning around 11am and woke up on the beach later that night..the time in between..who knows what happened, i had a good time but soma's really impair my memory. i'm just glad i took pictures.oh and yes drinking on somas is a no no.
 
So from ancedotal reports personal experience and so forth it seems that the biotransformation of some (carisporidal) into meprobamate saturates. In other words while you can get even really fucked up on miltown and even OD and die that is hard on soma. It is kind of like the codeine of barbituates.
Another thing is that peoples reactions to it differ wildly. I believe this is due to genetic variation in expression of the CYP450 enzyme which metabolizes carisporidal to meprobatmate.
 
No technically it is not a barbituate as it is not a derivitive of barbituric acid. However, it is also a direct GABA agonist and is quite similar in effect, although slightly less toxic.
It is as much like a barbituate as fentanyl is like morphine it seems.
 
somas are fun :) like noriega said, they are kinda weak, so you gotta have a bunch of them. i like them because they totally floor your ass, but your not too out of your mind, somas are nice and relaxing.
