Was wondering if anyone could help.

I started using mephedrone over a year ago, and used roughly once a week between august and Novermber 2013. I decided to quit after realising that he was getting hooked on it and the negative comedowns. after quitting I managed to get off the drug completely and went back to normal.

For the rest of the year he felt fine and had no real problems to report. However in the last few weeks he has noticed a complete lack of enjoyment in everything and is really worried about the effects. He has bad fatigue and a very strange feeling in his head, almost as if there are cracks in certain areas of his brain. I also has noticed that it is hard to concentrate on things and it's hard to engage with people. He has noticed things slowly getting worse each day and is worried because these side effects have only just started to appear even though he hasn't used drone in almost a year.

Has anyone experience something similar after quitting drone? he's really worried about these effects and even think my brain might deteriorate to a non functional level. I is also getting bad anxiety as a result of these symptoms.

Can anyone help?

Welcome to Bluelight!

Don't use SWIM, it's pointless and against the rules.

Mephedrone is one of those RC's that has little to no research especially regarding long term effects, so the available information is extremely limited (which is what made me stop using it). I used it a handful of times and absolutely loved it, but the unknowns were just too much to bare, so I stopped seeking it.

As for your symptoms, have you used any other drugs between the time you quit meph and now? Is there a chance your life has simply taken a turn and things are getting you down? It's odd that you would be fine for a year, and then suddenly get these kind of symptoms, but again, not much is known about mephedrone. All you can do short of going to a doctor is to eat healthy, abstain from drugs, take vitamins, get good rest, stay active and try to be positive.

I hope you feel better, bud. :)

Thanks, as you say i'm new to this so still learning how it all works, won't use swim in future. I have continued to use weed and alcohol since stopping the mephedrone, but i don't think they are the cause of my symptoms. Since noticing things getting much worse i have decided to quit these too in an attempt to get better. Also i forgot to mention i have like no sex drive and i get a weird painful sensation when i orgasm. i've also got like no appetite for food and when i do eat i don't enjoy it and things seem to taste weird. i suspect that the mephedrone has done damage to my dopamine system, but i can't think why this has suddenly happened seeing as i haven't done drone in so long. I am trying to live well and exercise as best i can, trying to stay positive

Welcome:)

There's nothing from what you say to suggest anything other than that you are going through a period of low mood. It's a perfectly normal part of human life, the chances of it having anything to do with the mephedrone are negligible.

It might be due to some other factors going on in your life, have a think. Equally it doesn't necessarily have to have any external cause, sometimes people just go through shit periods in life. Make sure you're getting exercise, lay off the booze/drugs, make contact with friends, work hard if you haven't been, take a break if you have....

You should be right as rain in no time.

Definitely abstain from alcohol. That won't help anyone.

You could try some dopamine-replenishing supplements like DLPA and others.

This is an iffy suggestion, but if you feel like you've more or less 'forgotten' how to enjoy life or what it feels like to have that lust for living, you could potentially try having a meaningful psychedelic trip. I find the afterglow from a good mushroom trip literally fixes all my emotional problems and gives me a much needed reset, even if I've been getting hard into the booze and drugs. Another thing you could potentially try is kratom, but that could risk an additional addiction.

Thanks for your replies people. I've stopped using all drugs, and am doing all the right things to help myself recover (healthy lifestyle etc). I fear that mephedrone is neurotoxic in the same way that crystal meth is (the chemical structures of the two are very similar). personally I don't think it is just a low mood as my brain feels really weird (the cracks feeling i mentioned) and i can't think what else could cause that. But it is a possibility (if it is a low mood then i suppose i would assume the worst).

If there was any significant damage caused by the mephedrone you would have noticed it already. Honestly, I very very much doubt this is related.

i would suspect the anxiety not be an outcome of your symptoms, but a cause.
You say you have tingly feelings in your head, lost focus, you're tired, trouble in contact with others and you worry alot.
Sounds like anxiety to me.

I've just googled the symptoms of anxiety and they match completely with what I am experiencing. Thank you so much, I feel much better now I actually know what is wrong with me and am relieved that it doesn't seem to be connected to the mephedrone. I'm going to go to the doctors and get assessed. Thank you so much for your help people, thank God for this website
