Technical Mephedrone purification, purity check

Hello! I am ordering mephedrone from Germany. The vendor claims that the product is highly pure and that it is "real mephedrone". Is it possible to test this substance at home and clean it if it is dirty? Is it possible to pour acetone through a filter and clean the powder from dirt?

You can also buy Reagent Tests to use at home which come with instructions to allow you to identify mephedrone (aka 4-MMC) and distinguish it from things like N-ethyl-pentedrone and other impostors.

Genuine Mephedrone is most often contaminated with synthetic byproducts, especially methylamine (which gives it a strong smell) and hydrochloric acid (which damages nasal membranes). I would say that the order of preference for trying to purify it is:

1. By grinding it to a fine powder and heating at 100*C you can drive off excess moisture which then allows these volatile impurities to evaporate.
2. Dissolving the remaining powder in the bare minimum amount of hot water and then cooling it will leave behind residual impurities in the water, but this does waste some of the mephedrone.
3. Dissolving in water or vodka and allowing very slow evaporation (weeks) will also leave impurities behind in leftover liquid.
4. Acetone will remove oils and similar hydrocarbons, so it can be useful depending on the type of impurities present.
