Mephedrone - Media Thread

What a great well rounded presentation tonight by lateline, its a nice change to see an unbiased story. Good work Jake you did us proud :)

Kudos to Johnboy - I don't think BL/Enlighten could possibly have a better spokesperson.

There is no doubt Johnboy is a great asset to the Australian HR community. He is well spoken, as well as knowledgeable, and we couldn't hope for a better public spokesperson than him.

Brave move by 'Jake' and it would have been good to see more of what had been recorded.

A well rounded report and it was good to see DrPlatypus on the air again. :)

I've very pleased with this - thank god for Steve Cannane. It's great to see JB and DrC back on air flying the flag for harm reduction :)

Well done MrIbis for your contribution.

I'm sure we could have had 15 mins rather than 5, but it was still a very good outcome IMHO.

Great work MrIbis, don't be worried about not all your veiws being shown. It was brave, and you did a great job. Props to JonhBoy and DrP.

It was a balanced story, and one that should hopefully give some insight into drug use. Especially that of 4mmc and MDMA.

Yeh nice work guys :)

I liked this little snippet in particular:

Johnboy said:
People will just turn to another drug. And it's quite unfortunate that as people are turning to other drugs that arrive they're actually going to substantially more harmful drugs.

It's quite ironic that the very first drug that was banned in this class was MDMA has turned out after 30 year of research that's been done to be one of the least harmful in that area.

Was a good piece. It's amazing how much the public/media opinion has turned over the last few years from all out prohibition to supporting a medical approach, and even tentative whispers of various forms of legality. Maybe things will happen sooner than expected. I think it's ineveitable in a way, and the spread of analogues/research chemicals/internet drug distribution is only going to continue to highlight the futility of prohibition.

Just throwing it out there for the ones who haven't already seen this, but the piece from the hungry beast on drugs is very good

This is posted in a different thread, but thought I'd post it just incase you guys had missed it.

Good to see the abc doing some balanced and well thought out doco's
