My partner and I went through about 500mg of mephedrone between us last night. Interestingly, she got less out of it than I did. Considering that I regularly consume a couple liters of coffee a day to medicate what I suspect is adult ADHD, that is particularly surprising, but equal doses definitely had a stronger effect on me than her.
I found it rather nice, although not earth-shaking. It didn't seem to me at all empathogenic or lovey-dovey like MDMA although it was great stuff for listening to Autechre, early Talking Heads and other edgy percussion-heavy stuff. My partner agreed that mephedrone mixed well with music and with cheesy Hammer horror films. : ) But overall she felt it was a weaker version of the shitty Ecstasy that appeared in clubs in the early to mid 00s. (Aging Goth shoutout to the crowd).
While meph sex was pleasant, it didn't turn into the multi-hour orgiastic fuckfest/wank session that appear in other meph trip reports. The tactile stuff is nice, although my partner also noted that the heightened sense of touch may trigger survivors of assault or sexual violence. (Of course, we also took somewhat less mephedrone than many other trip reporters - but I have a feeling that this stuff might give the fellows meph-dick if too much is consumed).
On the plus side, we were able to sleep a few hours after taking it. I will probably use the rest of the gram at some point - it seems a nice stimulant for club settings and public events. I can also see how you could get sucked into using this for extended periods: there is a decided more-ish quality to the stuff. The only reason we stopped was because we had things to do the next day. If we had a larger quantity and decided we were going to stay up for the next couple days, this report might have ended on a much darker note.
Neither of us noted any vasoconstriction or other negative effects. While I noted some gastrointestinal upset, this is typical for me on stims (and most other compounds: I have a cast-paper stomach when it comes to drug-taking and am on a regular dose of Omeprazole). Nor have we noted any type of hangover this morning, although I want to see if we get the "suicide Tuesday" depression often associated with X. I don't think we will, as this compound didn't seem to be as serotonin-heavy as MDMA, but I'll report back with any further developments.
