Meperidine CWE from Mepergan

Apparently there was a thread on this in the archives, but i was unable to access it for some reason...

So is this feasible?

I can't stand the promethazine, but the meperidine itself makes me feel quite good

Meperidine should be soluble in acetone, whereas promethazine is likely not (look up the physical properties to be sure).

Both are highly water soluble...

thanks for the info. apparently both are soluble in acetone, except meperidine is barely soluble.. whatever that means. i couldn't find any information on how much promethazine would be left in the final solution tho

Promethazine is "Practically insoluble in ether and acetone. 1"

"Meperidine hydrochloride is very soluble in water; it is soluble in acetone"

Most hydrochlorides are soluble in water anyway...

Dissolving in slightly warmed acetone and then cooling to like 15 should crystallize all the promethazine. Don't overcool.
