Mental problem after taking alleged LSD

Hi guys,

I am an university student in the US and recently after my exams I decided to try allegedly what was LSD for the first time after having tried MDMA and Cannabis for the past couple of months.
My friends had taken it the night before but I couldn't because of an exam...

Anyways, I took it in the afternoon and within one hour I could say that I was tripping even though it took much longer for my friends to start tripping the night before.
The trip itself was alright, nice visuals, ripples and bubbles throughout my whole vision, kaleidoscopic patterns etc. It lasted for 8/9 hours approx.

My nightmare began the following day, after I woke up I still felt tired as if I had rested very little even though I slept for 9/10 hours. (roughly what I used to sleep for)
Since then I have not been able to rest properly, my sleep is fine but I always wake up tired and exhausted which is really annoying especially when I have lectures to attend.
Suddenly after the trip I started to miss my family much more than I used to (they live abroad) and I always feel like I am close to breaking down because of exhaustion.
I also had a few flashbacks since then but nothing too serious or worrying.

One thing that has increasingly concerned me is that we might have taken some RC instead of LSD for various reasons:
1. the blotter tasted bitter and a little bit acid which was not supposed to happen according to most websites I checked
2. it took 1/2 hours for my friends to start tripping even though it was much faster for me
3. apparently none of us actually enjoyed the trip, it was an interesting experience but not nearly as enjoyable as MDMA/Cannabis for example.

One of my friends (he didn't take the blotter though) said he has been feeling the way I described for the past months and he was diagnosed with anxiety.

I really don't know what to do from now on, I just feel worse everyday and have no desire of leaving my bed for anything...
Basically what I wanted to ask is if you guys have any suggestion on how I can improve my condition or whether I should look for professional attention.
Hopefully we are going to get some reliable LSD this week so I hope I will be able to check what the first stuff was.

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks.

Hi vld welcome to Bluelight.

How long has it been since your trip?

How has your eating patterns been lately? Fatigue can be cause by a number of things and in most cases it's a bad diet that causes it.

Some LSD can taste bitter and it's not always a sign that it's a different substance. The time it takes to kick in can also vary, from 30 mins to 2 hours.

Comparing the 'enjoyability' of LSD to MDMA or cannabis is moot, they're completely different substances that affect your brain differently.

Hopefully we are going to get some reliable LSD this week so I hope I will be able to check what the first stuff was.

This is a stupid idea. You think that your last trip has caused ill effects, so why would you even consider taking more right now?

I would suggest you see a doctor and explain your fatigue and worsening symptoms before considering to take any drugs in the future.

LSD can be bitter due to binding agents and inks and stuff like that; I think you'll be fine in a few days, a couple of weeks tops. 90 minutes for acid to kick in is fairly typical. Not everyone likes LSD, I never really did, I feel the same way you do - "interesting but not enjoyable".

You probably shouldn't take it again, it's your brain you're playing with, psychedelics don't agree well with some people and next time you might have way worse problems than fatigue and homesickness...

Sounds like acid isn't the drug for you.
If you're looking for a way to get better, the obvious solution is to steer clear from psychedelics and other heavy drugs until you are feeling stable enough to start reaching out again.
A lot of dealers say their lsd is 'reliable'.. Its mostly never the case.. Whether or not you got the real deal, I don't think you should be taking it for a while.. Unless you want to continue feeling like shit.

Thanks everybody for the replies!

I am pretty sure not doing LSD again until after the Summer. I think it might not be the right substance for me.
I took last Friday in the afternoon.

Thanks again!

You definitely didn't have a bad trip......It could've just been a weak dose.....LSD in doses that don't really "break through" kind of suck. although it sounds like you "got off".

It also might have brought up some unresolved "issues" for you. Tripping is notorious for doing that, and if you're just hanging out with friends trying to have a good time, you might not wanna bring up things like, "how much you miss your family".....A good LSD trip will dredge up a bunch of shit, force you to face it and help you overcome it and move on, all in one shot! But if you take it in a situation where you're not comfortable just talking about what's going on with you, it can be weird. If you're with friends tripping and you bring up something personal, I think it actually makes everyone more comfortable and makes the experience better, creates a bond between the people you're tripping with. It doesn't have to turn into a "sob-fest" but feeling like you can completely be yourself is the key to having a "good trip" IME.

I think a lot of people sometimes get caught off guard by some of the personal issues psychedelics can bring up, and it doesn't always happen everytime, sometimes it is just smooth sailing, but it's definitely something to consider when taking LSD. If something keeps bothering you and popping into your conscious mind and you keep trying to avoid it, it can definitely throw you out of balance. It might not necessarily be just a side-effect from the drug.
