Mental Health Mental health and relatives

When I was still depressed (from massive resentment, not some chemical imbalance) my family pretty much just made things worse. Always nice to have people demand respect from you, treat you like an inferior human being who can't think for himself, and then get pissed when you respond with anger.

Of course, my mood was so edgy at times that I brought some of that down upon myself. Interesting how all those negative interactions feed each other.

Fortunately, once I realized that my anger was the main thing allowing them and other people to harm me verbally it was a (relatively) simple matter to get that under control. Learning not to be so emotionally dependent on them was harder, but necessary for my own mental state.

EDIT: I don't think any of them understand the extent of my change, but I am in no hurry to inform them.
