Member Input Wanted on Forum Improvements (was "moved sticky threads to archive")

I agree completely with TLB. Putting these threads in the archives leaves the members who want to comment on said subjects with only two options:
1. Not post on the subject they wish was still active.
2. Make a new thread and further clutter/ readdress things already concentrated in the archived thread.

I think to remedy this problem the easiest and best solution is to unsticky them but leave them all in TDS forum.

Yeah bin the fuckers coz no one reads them and never did as far as I can make out.
Heh banksy so noble to offer to throw yersel on your sword man , but a rather unecessary gesture as you did the right thing.
I for one like people who act, rather than pussyfoot about.
Banksy man of action our hero!

bansky whatta talking about, no need to stand down. I need you here, so what you moved some threads and decided to be pro-active in your moderating. I applaud you for that.

I personally think this forum needs a bit of direction.

The elimination of the distracting stickies is a start ... but what is TDS for, anyway?
Is it just a catch-all, down-on-life forum, for withdrawl/OD/depression/crisis/disorder/desperation posts, or what?

I probably visit TDS the most out of any forum, but seem to constantly give up on it. Its just so varied and random; the quality stuff gets lost among the endless muck.

Once apon a time I was a mod for a different BL forum; we LED many of the posts, by posting a ton of content and ensuring everything stayed structured, relevant, orderly and professional. Each forum on BL seems to be completely different, all lacking in consistancy and professionalism. Perhaps that's the point, but ever since I resigned my Mod-ship in a moment of personal panic, I haven't had the heart to post much anywhere on BL, no matter how life is going.

I'm sure that you were are a far superior moderator/director than I at least could ever hope to be, still we live in hope?

Don't kid yourself ... I couldn't run this forum for a day. I quit my post as it was because I couldn't handle the workload.
Just seems to me there's no over-arching gameplan on BL; the forums aren't really correlated much, and there's no clear direction for any of them.

I always want to post here, but often refrain, for fear of not knowing how un/welcome any particular comment / topic would be. Then the ones I do read leave me further doubting if my often non-drug-related depressive issues hold any relevance here; my addiction problems seem to exist in a world seperate from my downer personality, so its hard to reconcile the two in order to post relevant insight here.

I see what you're saying now, (please forgive my sarcastic reply of yesterday),
however what you are asking for is I fear beyond my scope at the moment, maybe the others when their lives are less busy may be able to come up with some sort of idea/compromise that'll be of help to you.
What *gameplan* do you have in mind though? See surely it is poster led, sure I can operate as a poster also but to take action as drastic as I understand you wish it to be that is beyond me, mebbe when I've more experience at doing this I may consider such things.
Good luck and please do post your stuff, just label it *not drug related*and that should demarc it from the rest. Mind you it is supposed to be about the negative side of drug taking but hey I'm a liberal minded guy so be my guest!!

In re: Trolls

I'd like to say a few words about trolls. Trolls are a mostly harmless Bluelight phenomenon; not too many of them, not overly disruptive, and as a matter of fact some troll threads even put a bit more life into their respective forums. I believe that trolling the Dark Side is not alright. Trolls in this forum tend to get more malicious and personal than in other forums: compare a post proclaiming "Haha ur suicidal, go ahead and kill urself loser" to a lively and relatively harmless one such as "What's the weirdest thing you've ever f***ed?" (in SLR forum). Even though it's not a significant problem, I think that trolling here should be dealt with harshly, since it has the potential to upset people worse than in other forums.

Thankyou for your attention.

no i agree totally in a sense, however, we are relatively ok from trols, you get the odd one and I agree that when they break through they tend to utter garbage easily nipped short. we are always on the look out for those who are possibly preying and I advise NEVER give your email address or yahoo names whatever over the forums as you dont know who's out there lurking.

What you see on the boards are the eejits writng and being closed down or edited or scathed at - what you dont see are the warnings given to these people, any serious pms to them to shape up or ship out and you dont see the bannings that get handed out and then you dont see them around here again.

we dont have many repeat performances - except darkhorse, which I freely admit I got intrigued about and he nearly came good for a minute before spazzing out again.

in short - you do your bit and report anything you find upsetting and we'll do our bit and make sure they dont do it agian. work as a team and all that.

but i do agree with your point completely, so what I am saying in short, is noted.
