memantine or dxm, benzo wd , tips...

Ok. I have heard some positive stuff about memantine and DXM, regarding tolerance. Anyway. Im currently in tolerance
withdrawal of "only" 1mg of clonazepam.
Id like to come off the stuff. Cold turkey is a sure way to suicide, but are these drugs that could reverse and lower the tolerance, or if id
transfer from clonazepam to xanax or other benzos would the tolerance be lower to that substance if using memantine or dxm?

I am currently taking im currently taking clonazepam, and lyrica, id use lyrica to get rid of the benzo, but i cannot because it was already in my system before i started taking the benzo. I guess i didnt have enough knowledge on the subject.

Any other input regarding stopping the benzo would be off use too. Depakote is heard to work for some, but im having hard time trying to lower the dosage on clonazepam.

Im here on the expert section of bluelight to get some ideas . The half life of the drug is pretty huge, so ct from this is pretty bad in my opinion, well takes longer atleast.

Ive read some reports that valproic acid (depakote) , Chlorprothixene (truxal) , captodiame (mine), might alleviate some of the symptoms of withdrawal. memantine and dxm, do they do anything in this regard?

I know lyrica would but damn im on it already.

I assure you here in OD we are more than qualified to assist you with your benzodiazepine tapering needs, and don't worry, the ADD crew often peruse OD so you'll have plenty of feedback from people who know whats up.

I don't think you need to turn to NMDA antagonists for benzodiazepine withdrawal, I would prefer a long, proper taper.

NMDA antagonists like memantine, dextromethorphan, etc, do not "reverse" your tolerance. Yes, they slow your tolerance from building any further, but they do not reverse your tolerance.

Hmm. If memantine keeps tolerance low, i guess i could start using it , and then use pehnibut to taper the benzo? I dont want to get triple addicted to gabaenergetic drugs if you know what i mean, so maybe not for everyday use, just for the worst days? Memantine would keep the tolerance to phenibut low?

I don't know about phenibut, however I would not advice adding in NMDA antagonists and rely on them to make abusing all your other GABAergic drug problems go away.

I would begin a very slow taper, it's really the best way to get off GABAergic drugs.

How much lyrica are you taking? It's good you're only taking 1mg of clonazepam, if you do not raise this then it will be easier to help you taper off.

I recommend you switching to diazepam for your taper.

Diazepam for some reason does not seem to be working at all for me. I know its supposed to be easier to taper. Klonopin has quite a long half life so i guess it still could be used. I have heard about the ashton method and know how it works. Im on 750mg of lyrica, its high, but my tolerance to lyrica , wel initially it was about 450mg, then it rose to 750mg, but stayed on this level for 5 years or something.
I have also now been given this truxal named antipsychotic which seems to mellow me down a bit, but im wondering of the possible side effects. Its low dose, but still.

Why would you advise against ndma antagonists and that type of drugs? I have heard they lower the tolerance, and possibly make the glutamate storm due to excitoxicity from benzo withdrawal from causing any brain damage. Its believed its the glutamate system that goes to havoc on benzo withdrawal. I have also read some studies about for example topiramate used in benzodiaepine detox. Its an ampa antagonist so it should have some affect on the glutamate system aswell.
So are there any drugs that would AID me withdraw, that you guys could recommend.

^i think tricomb is saying not to go abuse benzos because you can magically prevent tolerance and ease withdrawal with nmda antagonists. It's just not a free pass to go abuse opiates or benzos. I recommend a beta blocker for benzo withdrawal it certainly helps and valerian root (try to get the fresh stuff as i hear it's better). Passion flower and hops also helped me.

I've seen some studies showing magnesium to be beneficial not only for tolerance but also withdrawal in rats so i think it's worth a shot. I have been taking magnesium daily for months and my opiate tolerance has been increasing but quite slowly and even after 24 hours with nothing i don't feel withdrawal although i haven't tried to feel it. Seems to be working well enough for me but not a magical solution by any means. I'm not sure how well it works for benzo tolerane but 5mg of valium hits me well enough and it used to take me at least 80mg to get high from it. I imagine memantine and DXM will also work for this purpose.

Ok, you were saying tha passionflower and hops helped you. My native language is not english, what are hops? and what kind of passion flower extract or what are we talking about and how much did you daily take them? Links please.

Chlorprothixen (truxal) does help me on small doses but its a neuroleptic, and id really rather not touch those because of the possible permanent brain damage they may cause, but ive used small doses like 25mg of it, and it helps for a couple of hours , and it also helps with sleep.
