Melbourne Gatecrasher --???Info needed!!!

One problem is that many bluelighters may opt for Hardware16 the week b4 Gatecrasher.....I will be going to both but many people won't be able to do this due to the damn high ticket prices they are charging for these events. Anyone who saw Jeff Mills at W2000 will find it hard to turn down Hardware.
Enough of my rambling.
If there is a GCrasher meetup.......count me in, but obviously, as Anjele pointed out, punctuality(or lack there of) will be a major concern. I know that in my case, I cannot stand in the one place for longer than five minutes at such events.
Perhaps an earlier meet up time, when the dance vibe has not yet taken. Such huge crowds aren't very helpful either. Weaving your way in and out of these is often a turn off so many people stay put and won't bother rocking up to the Meetup.
So Ms. Social Direktor
may i suggest a
12:30-1:00 Meetup time
In a not so crowded area(First aid won't be crowded, but I don't particularly want to be hanging around in the presence of people who have taken it one pill too far)
If all members have some distinguishing clothing or pink wig, etc point it out b4 hand.......b4 2Tribes i mentioned that I would be wearing a FUCKING TRANCE t-shirt and 3-4 bluelighters approached me.
geez.......i think i've lost the plot, can't even remember what I was talking about.
anyway, you get the point, these are merely suggestions....i'd really like to meet some of you guys.

In response to Purposemaker, Re: Revolution v1.0, did you catch the Steve Douglas vs. Patrick Lindsay set? I thought CJ Bolland was pretty good, but when I went in and saw these guys... Oh my god! They blew my mind! Had the whole room charged from start to finish. Plus, you've gotta love a DJ who finishes a set with 'Confusion' - New Order!! Richie's set was great that night too, and anyone who turned up early enough to catch Simon Slieker would have had their world rocked in a whole new way. Did you happen to go to Revolution v2.0 with Mr C? I couldn't make it.
As for distinctive clothing, that WAS you Antipodes (re: Fucking Trance T-shirt). I remembered reading that you were going to wear it, but didn't have to balls to come up and chat, since I'm only a newbie, and none of y'all would know me yet.As for spotting me, look for the 6 foot 8 guy wearing bright orange roll-up pants (and Dunlop KT26's, man I love those shoes!).
Did any BL's go to Viper Room last Saturday night? It was awesome! Jason d'Costa played it hard'n'fast, just the way I like it. The recovery at Chihuahua was kinda cool too, though my comedown was starting to get nasty!

its probably not my place to say anything here cause im from sydney and all...
but i personally reckon the best place to have a meetup is on the dance floor... say at the front right speaker or just in front of the stage may even work...(if there any room)
smile.gif

That way, even if you're off your face, you can still make it to a meetup. but the disadvantage to it is that all the people going to the meetup have to be easily identifiable... so if that T-Shirt thing happens, it will be easy!
johnboy, dangermouse did the sign thing at Happy Valley... we couldnt find the sign! cause it was on A4
smile.gif
so it'll have to be a big one...
but chances are that if everything goes to plan, i will be going to Melbourne Gatecrasher...

It'll be cool to meet all you guys!

Danger,
Have to Disagree with you there. The SIZE of the event is going to make it hard to 'meet by the speakers' and plus, when i'm (and would believe other people are the same) in a dance area, there is NOTHING I can do but dance.
It'd be impossible to talk, and its not like you could 'wait until everyone is there and go somewhere to talk' as it has allready been proven that bluelighters aint known for punctuality.
I think the Sign idea from yours truely (johnboy) is the best idea. That way if your lost from your normal friends, not in the mood for a dance and don't know what to do, you can head over to the sign and just start talking.
Me likes your thinking Johnboy.

Raider,
No unforutunately I missed the duo, but Will informed me that they were fantastic!
I was at Revolution V2.0, Mr C. It was ok, unbelievably quiet! The large part of the Palace was booked, and the numbers where very small... I couldn't believe it. I only stayed for about 30 minutes of his set, and the music was good, however there was no vibe, I had to get out of there.
I also popped into Revolution on Friday night last, it was dead! There was literally 30 people there, and I have to wonder why the night is on!

I went to Revolution on Friday night too... I was sad to see how few people were there. I arrived at 12, paid my $10 entry and then chilled for about an hour hoping that a crowd would arrive. Two DJs played, I got there halfway through one set, the other played until 3am, and then the music stopped.

I guess I'll wait until they have a really big party again before I return. It's a bit of a shame, considering the huge crowd present for the start of v2.0. Still... with so many other well-established venues running on Friday night in Melbourne, coupled with Revolution not doing much more advertising than a 400 address mailing list, it could take some time before it gets support. Hopefully it won't disappear altogether though.

OK...so does anyone know the definite price for GC and whether the tickets will sell out??? Please let me know as I am once again thinking about going...

Got tickets yesterday for Melbourne GC at HMV in the city for $58 each. They have a funky hologram on them
smile.gif
No idea if it will sell out. It's in Shed 2 only though, so I guess the capacity will not be as large as Two Tribes, but there aren't as many huge artists playing either.

WOOHOO!!! turns out i'll be in Melbourne for GC!! and will be leaving on Monday!!

2. Will they sell out? or can i get them at the door?
3. If they are gonna sell out, can someone help me out by getting them for me?
4. Is there gonna be a Meetup? cause i will be there if there is! Because i'll only be there with my girlfriend, i need people to party with!!!
WOOHOO! im excited! i heard the docks was an excelent venue... Please bombard me with details!! [email protected]

I'm from Canberra and just bought my tickets for the Melbourne Gatecrasher from the Ticketek website. They were $60 each from there coz of the booking fee etc + $9 for registered mail to get 'em to me!
It's gonna be a damn expensive weekend for me (getting to Melbourne, tickets, food, entertainment....
wink.gif
), but well worth the effort I think! Canberra doesn't have much happening over Easter that I know about!
btw - I'm new here, this is my first post. I've been reading the bulletin boards for months and months but never registered. Hope to meet some of you guys there on Easter Sunday - you don't know me - but I feel like I know you all already!
