Melb - wotw- deep space techno, 1/10/04 @ HIFI *REVIEWS START PAGE 3*

The night started VERY mellow though Mike Callendar brought it up a notch in his last half hour or so which was cool, the mellowness came back with Phunk De Sonique and really thought the vibe was lazy and was starting to worry about how Saunderson would react to this.

Kevin Saunderson is THE MAN! As soon as he stepped up to the decks I knew he was going to rip out something special, and from the first track until the end of a mega 2 and half hour set, I dont think his presence ever left my eyes and ears! Played tough techno tunes then banging house tunes at techno level and WOW wat a night it turned out to be. Monster set to say the least. Saunderson ROX!

I knew a WOTW party could not disappoint me!

Definately have to say the start of the night could have been better... thought the warm up sets didnt really get the crowd going.

However as soon as Saunderson took the stage, the night took off. He rocked the floor similar to Carl Cox earlier this year. His track selection was awesome, and i nearly fell over when he played that remix of MY HOUSE.

Very good night overall, but i still think Cromak should be playing the warm up sets to big Internationals like that.

Ended up being packed when Saunderson reached the stage so the ppl were there, the crowd was not the usual WOTW techno people, and was upsetting at times when Saunderson was doing the boogy on stage and instead of the crowd putting their hands up to the man they were most interested in realising were they cactus or not.

That aside again Kevin Saunderson played monstrous set they really will become a memory never forgotten, great stuff. And agree with deCipal that the skill of Ben Cromack should have get him sets before international acts, someone realise this please, though Calendar also did very well in my opinion. Cant wait for the next techno party, bring it!!!
