Ive got a relatively mature plant thats almost ready to harvest. This is my first attempt at growing pot, and its working well so far. I just want to know if this will work:
I have an empty storage building in my back yard, and i wanna hang the plant in the upstairs to dry. Its dark and cool out there, and I was thinking about putting a fan out there for circulation. And finally hang up a Damprid closet bag to absorb all the moisture in the air.

Tell me your opinions on this

the storage building has an upstairs where there are open spaces on each sice for ventilation, and the fan(s) will help with the air flow, and just for good measure ill probably buy a couple damprid hangers to make sure it stays dry, and rain cant get into the upstairs because of the angle of the roof.

I'm sure YOU don't have plants ready to harvest. I'm sure it's SOMEONE WHO ISN'T YOU.

Sounds like a pretty neat setup - although you might want to check back and see if anyone has input. Then of course there is overgrow.com for detailed info.

The article http://www.overgrow.com/article/15/1 is quite excellent and from the second page onward has shitloads of good advice on drying and curing your harvest.

Good luck,

dont put fans or any damprid substance unless its extremely humid in there. youll want your plant to take all the time it needs to dry. if you dry and smoke it too quick, the smoke will be harsh and unpleasant. just hang it up there and check on it every few days. it should take about a week or 2.

congrats on the grow

if there isnt a lot of airflow you may want a small fan to add a slight breeze in there but dont point the fan at the buds

Yup, but if its real damp and sort of moldy then you would want to do that.

let it take its time, and make sure you cure it after.

Also if its just one plant, and not that big, you could just cut the larger colas off and place them on some card board to dry.. but if you want to do it right hang it upside down, manicure it, and all that jazz(but if it was one small plant i would manicure it, and then let it dry on something)

Its not me, its my friend's...i swear

Thanks for all of your input. I posted on cannibisculture.com but no one gave me a serious reply. MY FRIEND's plant should benifit from all the help from bluelight.

Due to lack of space I dried this years' harvest in my bedroom. Worked fine for me, although they dried a bit too fast.

put it out in the sun if you wanna dry it faster, but dont use anything like a hair dryer, it fucks up the bud drying it too fast. peace

...is an orange peel necessary?

yesterday a buddy of mine rolled a blunt - poorly - so we put it out and opened it back up to save the rest of the bud. the bud was a tiny bit damp, perhaps from having the edge of the blunt licked. is this normal? anyway, since the recovered weed was damp, we decided to throw a little bit of orange peel into the bag to prevent it from molding.

today i took a bit out and handled it. i packed a bowl and noticed that the bud tore off very easily and seemed pretty pliable, moreso than earlier. it still smoked fine, but seemed to make me cough a bit more. perhaps i was taking larger tokes, though...i'm not sure. it definitely got me high though.

so, is this orange peel necessary? how long should i leave it in? how much peel? etc.?

thanks in advance.

crap...ok, the orange peels have been removed. should the bud be aired out by unrolling the bag or something?

what you want to do is boil the peel in water for a bit. dry it off with a paper towel. place in glass jar with nugs. be sure that the peel doesnt touch the nugs. Leave in for about 3 hours then remove. then cure the buds by themselves. this should leave a taste and smell. however i don't recommend this, its really just a novelity thing. :(

btw- you boil it to remove citric acid which is bad for thc.

edit: what you want to do when you get a sack is place the nugs in a nug jar. this allows them to air out and get all nice and chrispy

okay, i have done this too a couple of times, but it's horrid, the taste man the taste...8(

The orange peel method is generally used to fluff up dried out buds - I am weird and like my weed to burn well so I never do this ;)

However - since there is a high risk of mold with fruit (sucrose stuff, I am too tired to word it any more professionally) - it is probably better to use a sliver of potato or carrot. Just make sure you wash it and it doesn't come in to too much direct contact with the buds. About one night should do it - your buds will be fluffed up and ready for removing the piece of whatever.

Now - who told you to put orange peels in to *prevent* mold?

^^ you know, i put silica gel in my wet buds, does that make me weird? :D
