A guinea pig doesn't interest you at all? You wouldn't have to worry about smell as much, and they are very social creatures.

I can vouch for this!
I used to breed guinea pigs when I was little. They are such gorgeous little creatures!! Hilarious! Very affectionate if you spend a lot of time holding them and playing with them.

I wouldn't want a guiea pig, but I would want a guineaPig. It would be so fun to fill its dish full of hard liquor and set it loose in the neighborhood.

To be honest i have never thought of guinea pigs as social animals, kind like gerbils ... but then again I have only really been around one, which my cousin owned when we were in elementary school. So maybe his GP was just the exception to the rule ... he was mean, and liked to piss on you as soon as you would try and pet him, so maybe they treated him badly? i dunno ... but I will def read up on GP online tomorrow after work ... do they smell? I would assume they are like rats and just piss on their bedding, which as long as you change enough, wouldnt smell.

Yes they do smell a little bit, admittedly. But as you say, they only smell as much as you allow them to smell!
But they're very cute, and make all sorts of lovely little sqeaky noises to greet you in the morning!
Like I said before though, you need to handle them every day for them to be really lovely little animals. If they're indoor all the time this won't be hard though :)

^dood, you TOTALLY posted the wrong link. and i'm leaving it for comedic value. i think this is what you intended to link...

i'd recommend a guinea pig. they're cuddly, mostly quiet, and even though they're small (my boys weigh 3 1/2 and 4 pounds each) they really do have great personalities. over time, they come to recognize you and greet you by squeaking. they'll even 'talk' to you in their little squeaking voices. they're great for your living situation because they live in a cage, but when you come home, they love to be held or walk around on the floor. minimal care as well.

Once you are some place that you can have pets get a bird! Birds are great! Conures are smart and have SO MUCH personality!

I think you should get an alligator, just so that when people come over to your house you can say, "don't go in that room, there's an alligator in there." Everyone will think you are joking...until they open the door...hehehe

i would also recommend pet rats. out of all the rodent animals, they are the best. very little smell, very nice, very playful, and smart. just make sure to get two females.
