I'm a lighter pirate. I quit smoking for 2 weeks and suddenly didn't have a lighter in my house (other cigarette smokers stole them all).

Then when I went back to smoking cigs (I failed), suddenly I have probably 10 stashed around the place.. I havent bought a lighter in years...

I find if you have a zippo now, people won't steal it as its obviously not someone elses.
 
^ thats certainly not the case in my experience. Bud smokers are the worst. One second you've got all your lighters, and the next your buddy has forgotten he borrowed it to hit the bowl.
Everyones been guilty of it at some point or another so i find its best not to stress. I guess you could carry matches if you're really that worried about it.
 
i know this kinda shit is really serious when we're high, but let's keep lighter discussion (no pun intended) in the lounge thread. if you have a better solution for how to keep lighter topics somewhat segregated from more serious topics then i'm all ears
