I'm curious about medical marijuana and how the law views possession and/or being under the influence. Do folk who have it prescribed get a special 'stay out of jail' card they can flash at the cops? Also, is there some sort of legal undertaking that has to be signed about not driving, operating machinery, holding positions of responsibilty or influence etc.? How does it effect insurance policies? Where else, besides the US, can one be prescribed pot for medicinal purposes? It seems almost too good to be true and is perhaps why nanna states like Oz probably won't mainstream the practice in the near future. Comments anyone?

currently in the US there are about a quarter of the 50 states that have medical marijuanna programs .

the federal gov. does not recognize these programs and considers cannabis growing, possession and use a prosecutable offense .

i had a med card and was able (in my state) to have 21 seedlings and 6 harvest ready plants at anyone time .

there are options in this plan . the card holder can (1) do their own growing .. (2) assign another person as a 'care giver' and have them do the growing .

in this state there are dispensary outfits that for the most part sell the equipment as well .
the card holder can assign one of them as care givers and pay them for the finished bud .

it's all a crock IMHO . it costs around $250 after spending for the doc's office visit and fee for the license . most ppl that cultivate do so discretely and don't have licenses . my area has not had a cannabis bust in years . that bust was a fishing boat that did pick up a few bales way offshore . it ruined that man's life and he has not recovered from the financial beating that he took .
