Hey everyone.....I'm on several meds, but the only ones I have a problem with taking more than I'm supposed to are my Opana ER and my Opana IR. Last time I saw my psychiatrist, we were saying someone should invent a machine that dispenses what your supposed to take and when to take it....well it's already been invented. I've had mine for a week now, and it's working great....Sure if I wanted to I could break it and get all my pills, but I think I would only do something like that if I was in terrible withdrawal. Well, with this machine giving my my dose every 6 hours, I will never have to endure withdrawal. I looked around a bit, and this is what I bought:

I got the 1600 model, that's all I really need, they more expensive ones are more for elderly people to be reminded to take their medicine. I cannot stress enough how wonderful this machine is. It's such an enormous help. If you take 4 doses a day like I do, you can fill it up for 7 days worth. Someone I trust holds onto my medication bottles, and the keys to the medication dispenser. The other 2 addicting medications i take are xanax and valium, but I don't have a problem with these meds, and I usually take a lot less of them than I am allotted. If I had my opana er and ir to myself, id go thru my monthly prescription in about 2 weeks. If you still want to abuse your medication, then you will have to save up to it, and you will never end up goin g past the day your supposed to be on with your medication....especially with my pain mgmt doc. If he gives me a prescription for 30 days, and i see him in 28 days, sometimes he will date the prescription for 2 days later. So this dispenser, while it might be tough to get used to, can be a true lifesaver. I'm so tired of going through withdrawal every month and going to see my doctor looking and feeling like shit. Well halle-fuckin-lulya now. It is so worth the $150 I spent on it. I broke the lid on my first one on accident, the lock has to be tured to open when you put the lid on, otherwise you cant get it on. They sent me a new one for free though. If you have any questions, you can call the 800 number or the one that starts with a 425 area code. I called and spoke with a woman named Suzy for 20 minutes finding out about this. These are mostly designed for elderly people, but I find it can be very helpful to addicts like me who just cannot control his pain medication.

Well, if anyone wants to ask me any questions about it, feel free to send me a PM

I've never heard of these dispensers before but i need one soon! I have the same problem as you with my roxi and morphine er....I always run out early and it sucks! Every month i tell myself I'm going to take it right but dip into it telling myself I'll just take less tomorrow to get me back on schedule....oh well...i never do it therefore suffering the last few days of the month. Every single time it happens. Its really stupid. Im 54 living with my parents because they are 75 and need my help. My mom keeps my meds for me, at my request, filling my little weekly pill box up every Sunday. Theres a little space for each day. If i run out before Sunday too bad! She wont give me more and she can tell if I've been dosing wrong because on saturdays I'm usually laying around in a bad mood. Saturday she said she was going to start just giving them to me by the day because she cant handle me without my meds...I told her no I'm not a kid and I'll be ok with the weekly thing. Dispenser where r u?

Wow thanks for the info. I just might have to get one of these for the same problem. I'm 24 and have to have my dad hold my Dilaudid and MS Contin, otherwise they'd be gone in 2 or less weeks.

I have had to sign contracts assenting to UA's, medication checks, promises not to get drugs from other physicians, etc. and this could streamline the process so much - doctors could prescribe these, insurance could cover them like medications and doctors require that you bring them in and show them that you have yours (with your serial number) devoid of tampering to keep you on your proper doses. It wouldn't stop people from selling their medications but it would make it at least more difficult because they'd have to wait X amount of time between selling individual doses or only make infrequent sales.

If doctors had better safeguards to ensure compliance, they'd likely to more willing to prescribe what people need instead of what they aren't afraid to give them.
