Mental Health Medical Marijuana for Benzo withdrawal

Yes, i have experience, not effective. Occasionally it helps but on the whole no. It can help the depression but can greatly exacerbate the anxiety. Weirdly enough kratom helps benzo withdrawal, but i guess opioids in general will. But kratom isn't nearly as habituating as other opioids. I suppose it is equally habituating but is far easier to quit.

In short, marijuana does not help benzo withdrawal much and may make it worse in some regards.

I bought some CBD oil this year expensive $200 just to try it. I didn’t notice a great deal of effect but I didn’t take it every day. Real smoked marijuana would help for sure I think but with the thc taken out IE. cbd oil it’s pretty mild to placebo effect. Just my experience.
Lyrica could be useful but then you are swapping one drug for another, perhaps just take it for a week or 2.

How long were you on klonopin? That is a big factor on determining how intense your withdrawal will be. Plus your own brain chemistry. Don’t fall into the trap of taking Gabba Boosting herbs (like I did once), for eg. lemon balm etc, they tend to be a hinderance to recovery. Cut the Klonopin into the tiniest dose possible, hold there for a month, then jump off.

I have experience coming off clonazepam and using weed to help. Besides helping with insomnia and RLS it doesn't help and certainly wont substitute for a benzo. It doesn't have strong enough anticonvulsant effects to really help with that. It's better then nothing though.

It’s been a little over a month since I started taking it again after being off of it for more than 2 years. Initial dose .75mg off six days then I took it for three days in a row around the same does. Even since then I’ve been taking .50mg about every three days sometimes every 4 days sometimes 2 days in between dose. I’m battling not to form a habit but I feel like maybe I’m already getting there. I mainly take it to help me relax my anxiety to sleep. I try to use other techniques first but Klonopin works so good too good

Give thc-o a try.
There is a story behind this but do not put all your eggs in one basket if trying this as it may not help much depending on dosages of bzd.

I found when I didnt use thc-o after a couple days I started experiencing distintive bzd withdraws (for me) and the only thing that helped was more thc-o... until I acquired some real bzd now no thc-o wds for over a week. I know this is hitting a thumbtack with a sledgehammer but there ya have it. ;)
If I start bzd wd I will try the thc-o but only after tapering to below .50mg bzd a day or less.
My use of bzd is less than 1/2mg day atm and do not see any wds coming for quite some time....
Just a personal onservation no science as yet to back the above bs.

Isn't a kratom constituent an autoreceptor agonist? Would help with artificially high NE levels, no?

Has anyone had any experience with using medical marijuana to help get off of benzodiazepines? I’m currently tapering off Klonopin
Yeah i kicked valium and tramadol at the same time using just nj medical weed, strains make a big difference some made me feel worse ,i liked the indica dominate strains or 90/10%, 22-32%thc

i was not able to use any thc during bzd withdrawal. i actually gauged my recovery by how well i could tolerate it again over months.

I think that using weed while in bzd withdrawals may promote a lot of anxiety. Maybe if it has negligible THC and a lot of CBD/CBC/CBG?
cb1 activation w synthetic noids will cause death from gaba blockade/multi organ failure/status epilepticus. there's clearly something happening with GABA signalling and CB1. really strong dabs can give seizures sometimes. since benzo wd makes a person SO much more sensitive to anything w GABA. i think this is the root of the issue.

My experience is that smoking pot increases the sensitivity to anxiety and panic, the opposite of what you want during benzo withdrawal.
Lyrica/pregabalin is used by docs together with valium for its long half life and easier taper to get people off pregabalin. Just don't use the pregab for too long, it can indeed by addictive on its own. I didn't get any withdrawal after a few months of 600mg/d but I guess this might be an exception.

A good strain could be useful at bedtime with Diazepam or Lorazepam. Clonazepam is better for anxiety but it's more toxic I think so best to avoid along with the triazolobenzodiazepines for obvious reasons.
