MDA has a methyl at the alpha postion. This is alpha-desmethyl MDMA

No its different. Its sometimes called homarylamine

the methylated counterpart for MDPEA? i think it would be logical to expect MAO to make short work of it just like MDPEA, per PIHKAL 115. titstypedthis makes a good post but i've never read literature of it (MDPEA or MDMPEA) being taken along with an MAOI

Given how difficult it is to control the dosage of PEA taken with an MAOBI, I would tread very cautiously with either.

yeah there are some horror stories i recall reading with people experimenting with that combo. doing the MAOI combo with MDPEA/MDMPEA would be even more dangerous IMHO because there are zero instances of anyone trying it before, that i'm aware of anyway. you'd be a guinea pig. Shulgin was a guinea pig but has the chemistry knowledge coupled with the pharmacological knowledge to be able to somewhat predict an approximation of the expected effects. plus he always started at microgram doses and worked up in small increments over a period of time... even if he was 99% sure of the dosage.

i've always pondered what the effects of MDPEA would be and the MAOI would be a necessity but i don't have solid enough understanding to safely try it
