MDMA vs. Marijuana Effects

I have never had good experiences with Marijuana. I have been stoned a couple of times and have essentially "bugged out" from paranoia and a sense of dillusion. This was years ago as well and the stuff wasn't even good like it is today.
I have done drugs like Cocaine which I happen to enjoy very much. Anyone who has done cocaine knows that there are no psychedelic effects like there are with pot.
Here is my question. My friend gave me some MDMA that tested off-the-charts for purity and I really want to try it. The effects sound like a lot of fun but I am afraid of "bugging out" again if it has similar effects as pot.
I like to feel good but be in control.
Can someone shed some light onto how the MDMA will make me feel? Will I not know where I am like I felt when I was stoned?

Hi there,

I can totally relate to you. I actually tried MDMA before trying weed, unlike the norm. However, I also find that weed makes me all paranoid and anxious so I stopped smoking it. MDMA is absolutely nothing like weed at all. I've never experienced anything like weed, apart from some anxiety on the come-up, but that usually lasts about 10 minutes and is not as intense as weed. Once you've broken through on MDMA it's a very easy-to-handle but somewhat psychedelic experience. MDMA, for me, causes the opposite to that feeling of not knowing where you are. MDMA, in the right doses, will put you directly into the moment with a state of euphoria and connection to those around you. It's pretty much the opposite to weed anxiety. Instead of questioning where you are, what's happening to you and the general state of anxious dissociation, you feel an acceptance of where you are, who's around you, yourself and a content with the world. Just be sure to keep your doses in the normal range of 100-150mg. Higher doses can be harder to handle, more psychedelic and more likely to 'bug' you out.

If you enjoy hyperactive stimulants, such as cocaine, you'll love MDMA. It's really nothing like weed, despite having a psychedelic touch. It really is only a touch, you are well and truly in reality.

May I ask how it has been tested? You can't clarify the purity of MDMA without expensive equipment. You can, however, confirm that the drug is indeed MDMA.

Welcome to BL.

No you wont "bug out" from mdma.. i also get paranoid on weed and dont like it at all, alot of people are like that, mdma on the otherhand, i've never met ONE person say they dont love the feeling pure mdma gives you, it truly is magical. its a very strong sensation, but it doesn't trip you out like weed does, you have a good perception of everything thats happening around you (for the most part). the only part that you may get a bit anxious with is the come-up when it first hits you, probably just have to sit down for a few couple minutes to let it pass and have a friend with you, and then after that, thats when you start "rollin". its all dreamland from there, have fun buddy ;)

MDMA is very chill and relaxing.

I feel like the MDA mental trip can be similar to marijuana at lower doses.

Mdma can be as "psychedelic" as weed but not in a ego-shattering sense, if that makes sense.
Mdma heavily impacts the serotonin, dopamine and noradrenaline concentration in your head, making it almost impossible for you to have anxious thoughts, or "bugging out" as you would call it.
Some people might still get slight anxiety on the come-up, because the X is hitting them hard.

But just keep telling yourself to enjoy it and not to fear it. Distract yourself during the come-up and don't overanalyze things, and you will be fine.

Dear Jdylan, I have trouble with cannabis and get paranoid and nauseous.
Mdma does not have the same effect. The release of serotonin seems to make you fearless and paranoia becomes a ridiculous notion.
Even so when you do your first time, make sure you are somewhere you feel safe and you are with people who do not bring you down or bug you out.
Interesting I find that cannabis can be hilariously enjoyable on the comedown from mdma.

Thanks so much for all the great replies. This is a really beautiful community. (<-- no, I am not rolling when I wrote that line)

Try it first with your girlfriend! Together it will be bueatiful!! Something for you both to enjoy.

Hmm, I disagree with the above.

If weed makes you paranoia, MDMA could be too overhelming.. If I were you, and you are sure you want to give it a try,
please take a low dose.. Otherwise things could go wrong, just like what happened to my girlfriend.

She's okay with smoking weed once in a while, she took only once the beautiful chemical MDMA and on the come up, it was too overwhelming and she began to get paranoia. Tears were rolling down her face, I took her for a walk and got her calm. After that, she kinda enjoyed the roll but she was not going to do MDMA soon again.

MDMA is very chill if you accept its effects and dont freak out, yes, but some people can still freak out.. its probably really rare, but yeah.

I've tried MDA once, and I thought the mental trip was ALOT stronger than weed... Felt like a real trip, just like the other psychedelics, but not as powerful, just the same kind of strangeness and deeper thoughts that could really change your thought patterns after the trip.

And to answer OP: if weed gives you too much paranoia, then you should be careful with MDMA - dont do more than one dose, and you'll probably be fine.
The comedown is much worse on high doses, several drops etc. It will produce visual effects for sure and weird shit can happen in your mind..
Not to worry, MDMA is very relaxing and smooth, but just be careful and do one dose.. not 2, not 3 but just 1.

i dislike losing control and also feeling "inebriated in a incapacitating way". therefore i don't enjoy the effects of alcohol, dissociatives and weed. stimulants are great, psychedelics make me feel clearheaded and in control as long as the experience doesn't turn dark (subjectively, they enhance your ability to think even if you can't make any sense of many everyday things ;) ). mdma is different. it definitely is intoxicating, but it's the only drug which allows me to completely let go and not care about losing control at all. all worries are gone as soon as it starts working.
