MDMA shortage contributing to city violence?

Thanks for that insight peponi. I think I know which club you work at. Who knows you might have even served me water with the occasional skittle bomb from time to time ;)

Im at that same club everyweek. And yes, the mdma shortage has seen a big decrease in the vibe.. Definantly a yes from me re. topic question, from the club scene side of things.

I think it's definitely a valid point, have a chat to a few security guys.

Funny you say that actually! I was watching a video a little while ago and the security guard that was being filmed said exactly that - it's not the ravers that you have to look out for, it's the drunk, aggressive men & women.

It was quite funny because while the interview was taking place (outside because he was still working) there was a bloke in the background with a binky in his mouth and kandy necklaces & bracelets all over him, made me giggle.

If I stumble across it again I'll be sure to post it up, not that I think anyone will care but it's good for a laugh. ;)

Has anyone else noticed that in Melbourne clubs and bars there's a lack of rum being sold? I can't remember why it is but rum=rAge. At least some anger fuel has been abolished. as for city violence over all, it's all about the scene you're involving yourself in. For me I'll go see some kick arse bands with kick arse people all around me doing nothing bit drinking and rockin out. never any violence, then on the very odd occasion when I go to a club, I'm constantlylooking over my shoulder and watching the floors being soaked in blood. It's like watching cave men, only they're wearing pink shirts. I wouldn't bring the increased violence issue down to mdma shortage. To me it's just proof that large scale multiculturalism being so evident so quickly just doesn't work. that and the fact that kids just don't get disciplined enough during developing years and is just starting to show itself now. as for clubs, it's all about impression these days but without the true style that previous decades were gracious enough to display. it's all about the pelvis thrust and being the alpha male with the pointiest shoes. sorry for the elaborate rant just my observations.

A lot of "nicer" Brisbane bars don't serve Bundy rum either. Part is it's reputation as fighting juice and part is to weed out the type of clientele who drink dark rum. I know plenty of guys who refuse to go to a place unless it stocks the "square bear". ;)

^^^ Wow that is interesting about the rum. I havent noticed it myself here in Melb, but then again i dont get out much these days.

Oh yes, the dark rum drinker. Of course we on the civilized side of society only drink rum that is white, void of the punch inducing spices and molasses. Must say though, never known mojito drinkers to get violent - although some do get quite shitty if they have to wait too long between drinks ;)

Whilst I can see where you are coming from, I don't think this is such a problem in relation to city violence. That is more an isolated case in itself, such as that whole situation about the Indian students.
But this is only going by my observations. Most times I have seen a fight in a club, it has more often than not between two people of the culture or background. Maybe we are in different scenes, but that's what I have always seen.

I see more violence on the streets than in the clubs. And a big problem I see is the number of under 18's, and kids as young as 13 and 14 who are often involved. I think the main problem is the collapse of traditional family values, and the whole institution of marriage, which ultimately gives these kids practically no discipline or moral values.

^+1

You're spot on mate. Whilst i hold very little value for 'the institution of marriage" the traditional family values people had 60+ years ago are all but gone. People respect people only in terms of dicksize and not much more.

Funny you brought this up.

Because I have a mate of mine who gets incredibly violent when he drinks Rum.
His not like that when he drinks other drinks though.

Why is this funny? Well it's ironic because his my only friend from Brisbane.

You'd be surprised. Every decade seems to be evenly split between good kids & assholes... it's just that the assholes are going to more significant lengths to make their presence known.

All I know is if we don't fuck these arseholes, we're going to get our dicks and pussies, all covered in shit!

haha you're a respectable poster here hyroller :P

I think the media has a lot to do with it. Media attention today is far more reaching and shock-inducing than media was in the past.

Although, in saying that you can't deny that respect for the elders and marriage - as well as religion (as much as I hate to admit this, religion did keep many people "in line" with what was expected of them socially) have deminished significantly in the last couple of generations.
