MDMA Recovery (Stories & Support - 4)

I thought I'd check back in, because it's been almost 2 years since my LTC started.

I can honestly say that I'm 95% recovered. My symthoms were: mild depression, anxiety, low libido, unable to sleep, brain zaps and involuntary movements. All that remains now (after 2 years) are very, VERY spaced involuntary movements, almost unnoticeable, and they seem to be fading away in time as well. I'm not under any medication now, and I only took Clonazepan (drops) to manage anxiety and be able to sleep. Beeing able to sleep fine is like a gift.

I was able to consume MDMA again (tested), in the expected doses, and respecting the times (1 month minimun between doses, 2/3 months most of the time) after 1 year. I also consumed LSD without issues (1/4, tested).

This process tought me a lot, and I've learned to respect the drug a lot. I did not lose the magic.

Time heals everything! Hang tight, it does get better :)

Hello - posts like these make me feel so reassured so thank you ! What are your top 5 top tips in beating these LTC's? are there certain things you did, changed different things In your lifestyle, ect? Thanks a lot, this forum makes me feel less lonely in this nightmare situation ! :-)

I'm glad I'm able to help, I know that everyone keep seeing bad messages, and no good ones, and I know they help! Here's my to-do list:

  1. Stop researching. You know what you have. You know what caused it (you abused a substance). You have to give time to your brain to re-adjust. Nothing that you read will change how you feel now. ONLY TIME WILL FIX THIS.
  2. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Go to a doctor, or multiple doctors if you feel better.
  3. Stop using all kind of drugs for a long period of time. This includes: weed, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, mdma, lsd, ANYTHING. how long? You'll know. Only use again (if you ever do it) when YOU feel good enough. Remember all the bad times and things you suffered. Respect doses and time. Alcohol, Weed, Caffeine (the legal ones), they all can trigger a comeback of your symptoms.
  4. Try to live a healthy life style. Eat well (no junk food), do exercise. Cardio helped a LOT, swimming as well.
  5. SLEEP WELL! If you can't sleep because of this, go to a doctor and ask for anti anxiety (Clonazepan, Alplax, etc). Sleeping is the key, I believe.

You may not have a traditional 'LTC' and you should probably give it a month before coming to that conclusion. Some people recover in a month.

My thoughts as a three month beginner: If you haven't done so, go to a doctor and tell them EXACTLY what you did. It did me a lot of good to be honest with a person that is there to help you. Maybe make an appointment with a neurologist to rule anything else out. And then after that follow nightelf's post above yours. The vast majority recover and you will too. You will recover quicker because of your age. I really believe that we become better people because of this. I have gained a lot of perspective in my four months of this. Welcome to the club :) .

Hi

Few weeks ago i did about 300-400mg mdma 3 consecutive nights. Had a very mean comedown that lasted quite a few days, very intense depression. Then as soon as I recover, I get a fever. So about 2 weeks after mdma I am almost back to baseline. Now I am quite fatigued, I need 10-12 hours sleep a night. I cannot sleep less, because I will un-willingly fall asleep if I am not so rested. It could be a attributed to a big change in my lifestyle that also happened recently, but I'm not sure. Could be adrenal fatigue or something. Going to cut all caffeine from my diet and set a sleep regime and maybe try taper down sleeping hours.

I do feel a tiny bit different since that weekend, but it isn't emotional and its very bearable

Just sharing my recovery experience

Don't feel like you deserve to feel like this or that it's your fault - who could have thought that taking some pills a couple days in a row could have resulted in this.

I really recommend starting to practice mindfulness meditation, to start to calm you down and relax your thoughts.

Don't let the severe stories scare you; Most people just take about 4-5 months before they are 95% better, and even they are full on long term comedowns - you might just be having a normal but harsher comedown, which can last a couple weeks. It's normal to take some time to get back on your feet after a binge.

I would sleep all you want if you can do so.

This happened to me after my relapse, was sleeping like crazy. Then I masturbated and everything went in a downward spiral....I'd maybe lay off anything too stimulating for a few more weeks, I wish I did! Then again you'll probably be fine with sexual activity and it's just me that got screwed up lol.

Thought I'd give an update if anyone would listen on my recovery. It's been three years for me since I had a very bad come down. I had the brain zaps, foggy head, depression, anxiety for weeks, months, ... Seemed like it would never go away, but I must say, time has healed it. I think I still have a hard time writing as good as I used to but other than that, my happy go lucky easy going personality came back. I did seek counsel for a bit but they were clueless about the drugs affect.

My cure was time, keeping active and trying new things like sports (hockey), keeping hanging with buddies (I did drink a fair much, but for me, booz doesn't affect me much mentally so this may vary person to person, i.e. it is a depressant and not recommended), working hard, and enhancing relationship with girlfriend. I did open up about my feelings and she was supportive about it.

Sometimes life was all overwhelming and waking up sucked, like fak, I have to face all of this today. As time goes by however, so did all that brain fog, anxiety, etc.

Anyways good luck out there and pm me if any questions. We are all a little different on how we handle drugs, given the different dosages and scenarios, and the recovery process. I just know that time is a common factor that helps us all heal and eventually relieve our symptoms. Just wait for it and don't give up.

What did you assume when you read lifestyle change lol. I meant, I finished college and now I work afternoons. I never need to wake up before 9am now.

lol I didn't mean that kind of lifestyle change.

splitting headache today and sinus pressure, haven't taken remeron in 2 days. We'll see how tonight goes....thinking of asking my doc on Monday about trazodone, has minimal effect on neurotransmitters at sleeping doses?

This is a long shot but does anyone know of a doctor in the U.S. that knows how to treat this LTC? Or even knows how it works? I would be willing to travel.

Sorry if this is TMI lol but does anybody have problems with orgasms?

Like I can get it up even though its difficult but upon ejaculation I just don't have all the pleasurable sensations which are supposed to be there.

Does this return to normal and become the powerful orgasms they used to be? Will Kegel Exercises help speed it up?

So far I haven't heard about anybody.

Psychiatrists are worth a shot, even if they aren't the upper echelon.

I've been to a couple shrinks, they don't seem to know much so far. They basically want to put me on this or that. My GP called me today with my blood tests and said that I was drinking too much water and that my sodium levels were low. And that it can be dangerous to drink a ton of water. Guess I was overdoing it.

I've been looking for this doctor nonstop, and have been begging my GP to help me find someone like it. ..only one that seems remotely close to the subject is Dr. Abraham at Tufts Medical who specializes in HPPD.

I have a feeling that for some the answers may lie within their genetics to some degree, I would love for someone to do a genome wide association study for people with LTCs. So far the short allele of the serotonin transporter gene is associated with increased negative effects after MDMA and I happen to have it.

probably something in our genes. My aunt and uncle both had bad experiences, one with cannibinol and one with acid, they said they were screwed up for 6 months. Flashbacks when smoking weed, anxiety, etc. This was after one time with these drugs.

I was fine after the first roll (granted I almost puked I was rolling so hard).....didn't listen to my body obviously lol.
