MDMA Recovery (Stories & Support - 4)

Any musicians here? I have the feeling that my music playing has got much worse than before, like I've lost the feeling for the right beat. Are these kind of problems, like the motoric ones, fade away too?

That's improved greatly for me - but I have to give caution here regarding music stuck in the head or excess mind chatter. Mindfulness meditation would be essential if you're having issues with such things.

I wonder what the average length of comedown would be. I don't think it's possible for us to tell on here because the more/most severe cases are posting/looking on this forum. If I had to guess I think I would say 6 months to a year.

I would say 2-3 years for main recovery and maybe a some additional years to fully recover (memory fix, concentration, etc.). But in the first months I felt like I'm not recovering at all, sometimes I felt like hell and even benzos couldn't get me to sleep, now it's slowly getting better after 10 months, hope I will be 100% in a few years :)

Good news to hear! Well on the path to recovery, stories like this make me keep my head up.

Anyone have shaky hands during their LTC? Since I combined MDMA and Adderall I'm wondering if my dopamine is messed up too, and shaky/trembling hands are a common side effect of dopamine issues....I think.

I don't know man, we don't see a lot of the people from 2013 or 2014 posting here...but then obviously all our brain chemistry is different. All of our cases are probably different.

Terrible comedown from MDMA

Hello everyone,

So I have taken mdma before in my lifetime. However, I recently took 100mg of mdma this past weekend (Saturday) at a music festival. I had a good come up and felt like a normal pill. I was able to sleep that night and woke up the next day totally fine. However, after the 3rd day of use (Tuesday) I felt a sense of disorientation from my body, dizziness, slight headache, and foggy head. It is now the 5th day (Thursday) after use and I feel somewhat the same. I have been doing my normal routine like going to school and working at a part time job. I am able to manage school and work, but I just don't feel somewhat the same. I have been taking 5htp, eating healthy, and sleeping very well. I am now worried I have done some permanent damage to myself. Should I consult a doctor about this soon? Please help!!!

P.S The last time I took mdma was 2 months ago and it was a low dose 100mg and I have never had a comedown like this before.

Take the 5-HTP for another week and try to sleep a lot. Sounds more like a stress reaction rather than damage because the symptoms came with delay.

Well, any kind of mental imbalance involves having neurotransmitters messed up i.e. out of balance. This should not be your topic of concern, however, although it may if you want to; in that case yes you may have dopamine issues, yet the neurochemical disregulation goes in my opinion much deeper than that making dopamine a mere actor and not the composer of this troubling sensation.

On that note from my perspective i may assume that shaky/trembling hands in your case is most likely a side effect of anxiety. I had it too.

Do you have any symptoms nowadays like memory problems or are they all gone?

I never had memory issues :(

Do you think you could currently sleep without the klonopin? In the research I've done it seems people think benzos help or hurt.

I'm not using Klonopin/Clonazepan anymore, I can sleep fine. I have consumed MDMA again (four times this year, spacing the doses with at least a month, sometimes more) without issues.
I've used it for around a year, or so. A drop or two at the worst days. Never more. It was a very low dose.

Ok I'll keep taking 5-htp and sleeping. I woke up today feeling a little better, but still have the symptoms (today is the 6th day). Thanks for your input.

overall im doing alot better and almost all of my symptoms are gone, the once i still have are that i do get more emotional and angry over things that i wouldent care as much about before, and i also do have some health anxiety for my heart.

for atleast 10 months i have all the symptoms all the other guys and girls here have posted

brain zaps, nauseous, dizzy, feeling like i was in a bubble, but the worst by far was the anxiety that made me scared of begin with my friends and family, i couldent even go into a store or someone house because i was scared of something.

i started doing mdma last summer and i did it like 8 times in 3months (0.2g first then a little liner after a few hours), mostly crystals but a few pills aswell, mixing it with alcohol, weed and speed.

ive really learned my lesson ! and in like 1 year i guess i will be almost 100% and dont even remembering this "thing" anymore, but im staying away from all drugs but i do drink sometimes now.

On another note....does anyone get floaters only in one eye? I only have them in my left eye. Also....the remeron doesn't appear to be helping me sleep as much anymore and the zaps have come back at night.....ugh! No sleep last night either.

Hey ADubbs - Yep, I'm exactly the same as you. Got a stack of black eye floaters appear in just my left eye and nothing to speak of in my right. Not sure why it worked out like that.

I'm 7 months in and I reckon they started appearing about a month into my LTC and got progressively worse for about 3-4 months. I think they may have stabilized for now. They're probably the symptom giving me the most grief at the moment. My tinnitus is still pretty annoying but my cognitive function has been a lot better over the past month or so. I think if the floaters would disappear it'd really help my recovery as they constantly remind me of what I'm going through, but for now I'm trying to accept them and hope they go away eventually.

Eye floaters will not go away yet they will slowly dissipate and blend with your perception of surroundings so that your brain will not notice them unless you focus on them, they will also be more prominent on white background. Same applies for tinnitus, also if it is currently at "annoying" level as time goes by you will find it enjoyable as some form of pleasant frequency that you are able to hear if you focus on it.
I had these symptoms long before my "LTC" which were provoked by high mental and emotional stress levels.

Has anyone on here got/had hypersensitive reactive tinnitus ? Basically I'll be lying in bed trying to sleep and if there is a knocking noise from somewhere, someone closing a door downstairs, floorboard creaks (you get the idea), I get this sudden zap/jump feeling in my brain about 0.1 of a second after the noise occurs .... It's horrible ! It happens maybe like 70% of the time and mainly when I'm tired whilst my tinnitus is blairing, my brain seems to be really hypertensive to sudden noises which it's not expecting .. Long term sufferer of brain zaps and feel as if these are linked. Please help ! Cheers

Thanks, keep us updated on your progress?

Yes I will, today is day 7 after mdma use and I feel better then I did yesterday. Now I feel foggy headed and slightly dizzy. I guess it's just a matter of time until I feel back to normal. I never had a mdma comedown before so having all these strange symptoms scared me.

Stop taking the 5-HTP

I artificially stops your serotonin receptors from returning to homeostasis by keeping serotonin artificially high and can actually be causing what many people think is a LTC

  • 5-HTP may cause
  • agitation,
  • ggressiveness,
  • anxiety,8o
  • depressed mood,8o
  • dizziness,8o
  • drowsiness,
  • ear buzzing,8o
  • euphoria,
  • fatigue, 8o
  • headache,8o
  • hypomania,8o
  • irritability,8o
  • lowered blood pressure,8o
  • muscle pain or weakness or breakdown,
  • nausea,8o
  • palpitations,
  • restlessness,8o
  • sleep changes,
  • taste changes,
  • vertigo,8o
  • vivid dreams8o

Sound familiar anybody ??? -- looks like a list of complaints from the LTC sufferers in this thread

I wouldn't recommend it more than 1-2 weeks, just to fill the serotonin up again. I took it myself for about 4 months, started in the second month of my LTC, but the only time it showed positive effects were the first 2-3 weeks. After that it was just something to be normal, I just was too scared to turn back where I have been if I would stop taking it. 5-HTP is really only helpful for short term serotonin refilling, not more or less.

What is helping me now really much is the Lions Mane Mushroom. I take about 2g/Day and after a few days I felt like something is happening in my brain. My balance, mood and memory got better and as far as I know this mushroom is not harmful even when taken over months. I'll stick to it and maybe you should give it a try too.
